The author presents an idea of a new model of rationality of science, uniting arguments of L. Laudan with considerations of A. Grobler's. According to this model, the sciences are not fully rational when they aim mainly at larger and larger efficiency in the solution to the problems (Laudan), but they are not fully rational either, when they aim mainly at exploration of the truth (Grobler). So when are the sciences rational?
