The paschal mystery as the anamnesis of the death and resurrection of Christ from the beginning of Christianity, is in the centre of the theological thought and the liturgical celebration. In time of the liturgical movement before the II Vatican Council theologians paid attention on this mystery. Many years before appearing the encyclical of the pope Pius XII Mediator Dei was known the theological reflection of Odo Casel OSB (1886-1948). He was a mystagogue of the paschal mystery for the western Church. In all his publications, he indicated the organic unity of all earthly mysteries of Jesus which reached their culmination in his death and resurrection. First of all Casel's article: Art und Sinn der altesten christlichen Osterfeier which appeared in 1938 in Jahrbuch für Liturgiewissenschaft is a treasury of his theological views. Casel indicated in it on paschal thoughts of the first three ages of Christianity. The new Casel's notion is the search of the analogy among the paschal mystery in Christianity and some elements in pagan mysteries. He showed that Christianity was not a fulfillment of pagan ideas, but is found in the centre of the entire world history.
