Przedmiotem rozważań jest wpływ walk Legionów Polskich na wydarzenia, które podczas I wojny światowej wyniosły sprawę Polski na arenę międzynarodową i stworzyły warunki sprzyjające formowaniu Błękitnej Armii, a także próba sformułowania odpowiedzi na pytanie, jak mogłyby potoczyć się wypadki, gdyby Legiony nie powstały. Dokonano próby oceny, jakie skutki mógłby przynieść brak Błękitnej Armii w Polsce latem 1919 r., oraz analizy wpływu J. Piłsudskiego na przełomowe momenty wojny Polski z Rosją bolszewicką. The article focuses on the impact made by combats fought by the Polish Legions on the events that during the First World War put the Polish question into the international arena and prepared favourable conditions for the formation of the Blue Army, and also on the attempt to answer the question what could have happened had there been no Polish Legions. An attempt was made to assess the potential consequences that would result if there had been no Blue Army in Poland in the summer of 1919, and to analyse Józef Piłsudski’s influence on decisive moments of the war between Poland and Bolshevik Russia.

The Moderation and Work Society (of the Michalite Fathers) in Miejsce Piastowe during World War I based on memories of former members and records in the Members’ Book The paper presents the activity of the Moderation and Work Society (of the Michalite Fathers) during World War I in Miejsce Piastowe. Based on the memories of the residents of that institution in Miejsce Piastowe, the article describes everyday life of the centre which ran educational activity. Thanks to archival sources a list has been compiled with the names of those who fought for Poland’s independence. The enlisted residents and tutors served in the Austrian Army (43 of them), in Józef Piłsudski’s Legions (7), and in the Polish Army as volunteers or conscripts (19).

The article concerns the life and work of Władysław Broniewski, a poet whose voice was strongly marked in the history of Poland in the interwar period and the times of the Polish People’s Republic. It shows the role of the artist’s work, which it played in the 20th anniversary and in subsequent years – during the Second World War and in the new social landscape of the PRL up to the present day. Broniewski’s intricate artistic and life path has been discussed in the broad context of artistic myths.

Ukazuje rolę artysty i różne funkcje jego poezji w dwudziestoleciu międzywojennym oraz w następnych latach – podczas II wojny światowej oraz w nowym krajobrazie społecznym PRL, aż po współczesność. Powikłana droga twórcza i życiowa Broniewskiego omówiona została w szerokim kontekście mitów artystycznych.
