In this article, we take a closer look at the way in which names of habits operate in dictionaries and therefore in the Polish language. We refer our observations to an analysis of sixteen dictionary entries of our interest. What is more, we have confronted these entries with the results of questionnaires distributed among the students of the Poznań and Kalisz Institutes of Polish Philology. The analysed dictionary material provides an interesting insight and, more importantly, highlights the considerable discrepancy between dictionary theory and the practical command of the analysed words.

This article aims at better understanding a unique phenomenon in Medieval Latin: the use of modo in the collection of Latin sermons known as Quadragesimale Admontense. Far from being an adverb as in Classical Latin, modo has become to be used predominantly as a discursive particle and a conjunction in Quadragesimale Admontense; several times it even plays a role of a pronoun. Possibilities of finer categorisation are outlined. It is suggested that the probable reason for this idiosyncrasy is that the scribe used modo thoughtlessly to translate Old Czech an.

The aim of the present article is to provide an overview on selected macrostructural and microstructural choices made by the authors of multilingual LSP dictionaries. Particular attention is devoted to the headwords and the arrangement and content of dictionary entries. The above-mentioned questions are discussed based on several multilingual LSP dictionaries which have been published in Poland in 1991– 2012.
