Military tourism, including battlefields tourism, despite of its long tradition, seems to be considered as a form of tourism dedicated to connoisseurs of tourist experiences, specialists or military hotheads, or quite a contrary – as a tourism with no (or a little) requirements, school, assigned for general or patriotic education of the Youths. However, tourist potential battlefields is much bigger, it creates many possibilities: associating with historical space, shaping skill of reading of historical landscape, discovering military strategy and tactics leading to victory, arousing empathy to people from the past and its battle experiences, participating in reenactments events. The aims of the paper are to identify and characterize of military battlefields heritage and its tourist development on the Polish-Czech borderland of the Lower Silesia as a basis to creation of transfrontier tourist product.

Turystyka militarna, a zwłaszcza turystyka pól bitewnych, choć ma długą tradycję, uważana jest za niszową formę turystyki przeznaczoną dla „koneserów” doświadczeń turystycznych, specjalistów, pasjonatów militariów lub wręcz przeciwnie − za turystykę mało wymagającą, szkolną, przeznaczoną dla ogólnej lub patriotycznej edukacji młodzieży. Tymczasem potencjał turystyczny pobojowisk wydaje się być znaczenie większy: począwszy od możliwości obcowania z przestrzenią historyczną, rekonstrukcji i umiejętności czytania krajobrazu historycznego, odkrywania tajników militarnych strategii i taktyki będącej kluczem do zwycięstwa, identyfikacji z postaciami historycznymi, doświadczania empatii poprzez poznanie spersonalizowanego doświadczenia uczestników konfliktu, uczestnictwa w wydarzeniach odtwórstwa historycznego. Celem artykułu jest charakterystyka dziedzictwa batalistycznego pogranicza polsko-czeskiego Dolnego Śląska i jego turystycznego zagospodarowania w aspekcie możliwości stworzenia w oparciu o nie transgranicznego produktu turystycznego.
