Księstwo Luksemburg należy do największych międzynarodowych centrów finansowych. W żadnym innym kraju sektor finansowy nie odgrywa tak dużej roli w gospodarce narodowej jak w Luksemburgu. Kraj ten spośród wszystkich krajów Unii Europejskiej posiada najlepiej rozwinięty system bankowy. Działalność bankową prowadzą tam prawie wszystkie banki globalne świata. Od lat 90. XX wieku Luksemburg zyskuje też systematycznie na znaczeniu jako światowe centrum rejestracji funduszy inwestycyjnych i zarządzania ich aktywami, które pochodzą od inwestorów z całego świata. Luksemburg posiada również dobrze rozwinięty sektor ubezpieczeniowy zdominowany przez zagraniczne firmy ubezpieczeniowe. W dłuższym okresie luksemburskie centrum finansowe stoi przed licznymi wyzwaniami związanymi z szeregiem potencjalnych zmian regulacyjnych.

The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg is one of the major international financial centres. In no other country, does the financial sector play such a large role in the national economy as in Luxembourg. The three most important pillars of the Luxembourg financial system are: the banking sector, investment funds and the insurance sector. In the longer term, the Luxembourg financial centre faces numerous challenges associated with a number of potential regulatory changes.

Employment Relations and Restructuring Management in the Banking Sector in Luxembourg

This article discusses how restructuring during the crisis has affected employment relations in the banking sector in Luxembourg. The crisis has reinforced the impact of a series of exogenous factors influencing Luxembourg's banking sector and its continental employment relations system. These include the automatic exchange of information, rapidly-evolving European and international regulation and the resulting stronger compliance of banks, the mobilisation of external expertise by social partners, as well as stronger skills and professional requirements. It is argued that although these factors challenge the consensus-based and neo-corporatist employment relations framework, coordinated decentralization with strong government involvement in tripartite bargaining arenas has meant that the functioning of the employment relations system has been maintained. Collective bargaining has contributed to a socially-responsible restructuring in the banking sector through the anticipation and management by consenting to legally-based labour agreements and certified training for dismissed employees, as well as impact management through implementing transition support instruments.

Kraje zrzeszone w ramach Beneluksu pozostawały w okresie zimnej wojny, zwłaszcza w dobie postalinowskiej, istotnym terenem prowadzenia działań wywiadowczych przez radzieckie służby specjalne. Większość zadań realizowanych poprzez oficerów legalnych rezydentur 1. Zarządu Głównego (ds. wywiadu zagranicznego) KGB w latach 1954-1991 koncentrowały się na pozyskiwaniu informacji, przy czym ich zasadniczym celem było nie tyle zdobywanie danych na temat potencjału gospodarczego czy militarnego samych "Małych Państw" (Belgii, Holandii i Luksemburga), ile tajemnic związanych ze zlokalizowanymi na ich terytorium centralami ważnych organizacji międzynarodowych, w szczególności Paktu Północnoatlantyckiego. W latach 70. XX w. na terenie trzech wspomnianych krajów działało łącznie ponad 80 oficerów KGB i GRU, dysponujących co najmniej 30 czynnymi osobowymi źródłami informacji.

The states united within Benelux remained during the Cold War, especially in the post-Stalinist era, an important area of intelligence activities undertaken by the Soviet secret services. Most of the tasks carried out by officers of the legal residencies (residenturas) of the First Chief Directorate (foreign intelligence) of KGB in the period from 1954 to 1991 were focused on obtaining information; however, their primary objective was not so much the acquisition of data on the economic or military potential of the “Small States” themselves – i.e. Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, but obtaining secrets connected with the headquarters of important international organizations located on their territory, in particular of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. In the 1970s, more than 80 officers of KGB and GRU, having at least 30 active informants, operated on the territory of these three countries.

The studies aim to diagnose the investment evolution observed for domestic non-financial corporations in investment fund market in Poland over the period 2010-2018 and to identify differences and similarities vis-a-vis the markets in Ireland and Luxembourg. The following research hypothesis was proposed: Intensified expansion of domestic non-financial corporations in closed-end investment fund market in Poland between 2010 and 2018 is the effect of a business model that highlights expanding statutory activities to cover new industries, new types of funds and financial instruments in investment-deposit operations, as well as cooperation with foreign investors within business groups.

Celem badań jest diagnoza ewolucji inwestycyjnej krajowych przedsiębiorstw niefinansowych na rynku funduszy inwestycyjnych w Polsce w latach 2010-2018 oraz wskazanie różnic i podobieństw wobec rynków w Irlandii i Luksemburgu. Postawiono następującą hipotezę badawczą: Nasilenie ekspansji krajowych przedsiębiorstw niefinansowych na rynku zamkniętych funduszy inwestycyjnych w Polsce w latach 2010-2018 wynika z realizacji modelu biznesowego eksponującego poszerzanie dotychczasowej działalności statutowej o nowe branże, o nowe typy funduszy i instrumenty finansowe w ramach działalności inwestycyjno-lokacyjnej, jak i o współpracę z inwestorami zagranicznymi w ramach grup kapitałowych.

Mimo postępu nauki, głównie w zakresie teologii, życie codzienne w późnym średniowieczu obfitowało w mnóstwo wydarzeń opartych na bogatych, acz prastarych tradycjach, zwyczajach. Nie można również pominąć licznych przesądów, głęboko zakorzenionych w środowiskach poszczególnych warstw społecznych. Dotyczyło to również szlachty oraz rodów książęcych i królewskich. Podobnie było na dworze Luksemburgów w pierwszej połowie XIV wieku. Ślady ówczesnych tradycji, zwyczajów, przesądów, proroctw czy też zwykłych plotek są często spotykane w najważniejszych materiałach źródłowych powstałych na terenie korony św. Wacława w tamtym okresie. Z wykorzystanych źródeł warto na pierwsze miejsce wysunąć autobiografię cesarza Karola IV, która w bezpośredni sposób pokazuje spojrzenie władcy na różne wydarzenia i zjawiska, również te uznawane za nadprzyrodzone, bądź też wynikłe z woli Boga. Ukazano ponadto liczne tradycje związane z życiem codziennym oraz wyjątkowymi wydarzeniami na dworze królewskim i cesarskim, jak również zabiegi stosowane przez ówczesnych dyplomatów, reprezentujących najważniejsze domu panujące w Europie.

Despite the progress of academic sciences, especially in the area of theology, everyday life in the late Middle Ages abounded in many events based on rich, but ancient, traditions and customs. Many superstitions have to be also taken into account, as they were deeply rooted in respective social layers. It also concerned the gentry as well as princely and royal families. It was so at the Louxemburg court in the first half of the 14th century. Traces of contemporary traditions, customs, superstitions, prophe-cies or common gossip can be often found in the most important source materials originating in the lands of the Crown of St Wenceslas in those times. From the sources used in the research the most important seems to be the autobiography of emperor Charles IV, which shows in a direct way the views of the ruler on various events, also those considered to be of supernatural or divine origin. Numerous traditions connected with everyday life and unique events at the royal and imperial court have also been presented as well as diplomatic efforts of contemporary diplomats representing the most important ruling houses in Europe.
