W artykule przedstawiono zagadnienia związane z edytorstwem dla dzieci i młodzieży na przykładzie działalności Wydawnictwa Akapit Press Sp. z o.o. z Łodzi. Na podstawie materiałów dostarczonych przez Wydawnictwo i rozmów z redaktorami starano się ukazać problem odpowiedzialności edytora przygotowującego lektury dla młodego czytelnika. Uwzględniono kwestie dotyczące wychowania – wydawcy literatury dla młodych odbiorców powinni pamiętać o szczególnym jej charakterze, czyli kodach wartości wpisywanych w każdy utwór dla nich przeznaczony.

The short text attempts to present, on the basis of materials furnished by the Publisher and the conversations with the editors, the problem of the editor’s responsibility for a young reader who is charged with the task of preparing such works for this kind of reader. On the basis of the activities of the Wydawnictwo Akapit Press Sp. z o.o. in Łódź the problems associated with the editorship of works for children and young people was presented. The text covers the problems associated with education, which means that the editors of literature intended for young readers should remember about the peculiar nature of such works i.e. the code of values inscribed into works intended for such readers.

W artykule omówiono utwory o charakterze edukacyjnym autorstwa współczesnej polskiej pisarki dla dzieci, Renaty Piątkowskiej, która w przystępny sposób objaśnia w nich zawiłości języka, dawne zwyczaje i obrzędy oraz zagadnienia prawne. Przenalizowano również znaczenie towarzyszących tekstowi ilustracji dla przyswajania faktów i wiadomości przez najmłodszych. Wskazano walory poznawcze i edukacyjne twórczości pisarki.

The article discusses works of educational nature by a Polish writer of children’s literature, Renata Piątkowska. It presents the tasks of this writer’s oeuvre, which is supposed to explain in an accessible way the intricacies of language, early customs and rituals or press-related problems. Also the illustrations which accompany the text and their significance for the assimilation of facts and information by very young people were examined. The cognitive and educational merits of the writer’s works were indicated.

W artykule przybliżono postać Andre Norton – amerykańskiej bibliote-karki, pisarki oraz popularyzatorki literatury fantastyczno-naukowej i fantasy, szcze-gólnie wśród młodych odbiorców. Przedstawiono zarys biografii, pracę i działalność biblioteczną A. Norton. Analizie poddano jej twórczość, ze szczególnym uwzględnie-niem serii „Świat Czarownic” (ang. „Witch World”). Podjęto próbę wyjaśnienia feno-menu popularności książek fantasy tejże autorki i jej roli w kreowaniu pozytywnych postaw i wzorców u odbiorców. W pracy opisano również High Hallack – specjali-styczną bibliotekę dla pisarzy i miłośników literatury fantastycznej, którą stworzyła.

The article presents the figure of Andre Norton – an American librarian, writer and promoter of science fiction and fantasy, particularly among the younger readers. The article discusses her biography, her creative work as well as her work as a librarian. To that end, the author analyzes her works of fiction, in particular her Witch World series, attempting to explain their popularity and Norton’s role in creat-ing positive attitudes and values among her readers. Moreover, the article discusses also High Hallack, a specialized library created by Norton for the writers and readers of science fiction and fantasy.
