The reception of Karl Mannheim's works in Poland has not been widely studied yet. This paper attempts to examine that problem starting from the first comments in the years between the First and the Second World War up to the clearly determined periods after the Second World War. The reception of Mannheim's works in Poland shows to what extent classical sociological works from the West were subjected to numerous censorship restrictions and therefore were better known after 1989. The most important work of Mannheim, 'Ideology and Utopia' (1929), was received with keen interest by epistemologists and social cognition theoreticians also in Poland. Mannheim's concepts were and still are adduced in debates on social planning, mass society, generations, youth and many significant factors differentiating societies. So it is possible to identify varied forms of the presence of Mannheim's ideas in Polish sociology and philosophy.
