The state of research on the intitulation of the Masovian Dukes (from the thirteenth century till 1526) is not satisfactory, because there are still few monographs concerning that issue. However, this part of the introductory protocol plays the important role in the analysis of the authenticity of documents, its form and diktat. It is also significant in the research on the political history of Masovia and its division into several duchies. The article concentrates on the problem of claims titles, which were used by the Masovian Dukes in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. It also brings up the issue of the list of witnesses and their intitulation. Next, it tries to answer the question, if there was a connection between the order of officials on the list of witnesses and the precedence of lands enumerated in the intitulation. Afterwards, the author analyses causes, time of appearance and frequency of almost thirty different elements of Masovian Dukes' intitulations from the half of the thirteenth century till 1526 (expect the Masovian and Russian intitulations). He especially focuses on the so called claim intitulation treated as an act of political propaganda. It is also noticed that the chiefs of chancelleries had an influence on the form of the intitulation - along with the changes on this post we can observe the changes within the form (including the intitulation). The analysis of the Masovian documents shows also the relation between the order of officials on the list of witnesses and the order of particular titles placed in the intitulation. The changes inside the intitulation, according to the appearance of the new title (e.g. 'czerski') influenced also on the order of signatures at the list of witnesses.
