The paper deals with the authoress' consideration of the fundamental monograph written by M. Sokolova (2007) on morphology of substantives, which is for individual specialists (linguists, lexicographers, but also for university student of the Slovak language) an inspiration, source of information and a substance for verification or comparison of some facts. The monograph is really useful in corpus linguistics, e. g. when improving the quality of morphological annotation of texts. In cooperation with specialists in the field of methodology of the Slovak language teaching, it can mediate the conclusions from contemporary scholarly research also for basic schools pupils as well as for secondary schools students.

Lemmatization, morphological (or morphosyntactic) annotation (MSD) and disambiguation is a basic and indispensable step in Natural Language Processing of languages with a moderate level of inflection. We present a web interface demonstrating the de facto default lemmatization and MSD for Slovak, as used in major Slovak corpora (with several enhancements yet to be applied in the corpora). The interface can be used chiefly for presentation or pedagogical purposes, with the morphological tags expanded and explained using plain language in several languages, including two different terminological registers of Slovak (professional linguistic or a “common” one).
