The book Portage by M. Vilk is analyzed in the article. We consider the linguistic units that structure peasant variant of Russian speech, particularly - the names of the specific realities of life and nature, folk terminology, residuals from the sphere of folklore and superstitions. It is emphasized that the use of live traditional speech markers is subjected to two strategies of text generation:(1) ensuring the global coherence of the text and updating the different components of its semantic structure, and (2) the use of a direct interaction at the level of local text coherence.
