Poznanie preferencji i zachowań nabycwów jest kluczowym czynnikiem decydującym o sukcesie rynkowym przedsiębiorstwa. Skuteczny marketing wymaga precyzyjnej segmentacji, zgodnie z którą tworzy się spersonalizowaną ofertę rynkową uwzględniającą możliwości i potrzeby konkretnej grupy docelowej. Metoda k-średnich jest metodą badawczą, która może stanowić podstawę segmentacji nabywców, ponieważ odzwierciedla reakcje konsumentów na poszczególne warianty lub atrybuty produktów. Celem publikacji jest prezentacja możliwości aplikacji metody k-średnich w procedurze segmentacji na rynku produktów spożywczych.

Knowing buyers' preferences and behaviors is a key factor of contributing to success of every business. Effective marketing requires precise segmentation, according to which a personalized market offer is created that takes into account the capabilities and needs of a specific consumers group. The k-means method is a research method that can be the basis for segmentation of buyers as it reflects consumer responses to individual variants or attributes of products. The purpose of the publication is to present the possibilities of application of the k-means method in the segmentation procedure in the food market. Segmentacja rynku jest znanym i wykorzystywanym narzędziem marketingowym w przedsiębiorstwach usługowych. Na podstawie przeprowadzonych badań przedstawiono efekty rozpoznania intensywności wykorzystania segmentacji rynku przez firmy usługowe oraz ukazano zróżnicowanie stosowania segmentacji w przekroju wybranych cech przedsiębiorstw i ich otoczenia. W badaniu wzięło udział 52 przedsiębiorstwa usługowe.

Market segmentation is well known and used as a marketing tool in service enterprises (60% of them). Statistically, more often segmentation is used by service companies operating on growing markets, national markets, where the competition is slight and market changes are considered as important and fast or unimportant and slow. Segmentation is used more often by large companies, with foreign capital, the ones that evaluate their financial condition as average or poor, having significant market position. (original abstract)

Market segmentation allows you to adjust the company's activities to the existing market demand, i.a. in terms of marketing. Segmentation should be understood as a division of the market at a relatively homogenous group of buyers of goods and services. It helps to divide the market into separate groups of buyers who require separate products and the use of different marketing instruments. One of the most popular method used in research segmentation methods are the taxonomic's methods, which allow to sort and classify a variety of factors. The taxonomy's method allows to divide a set of objects into homogeneous subsets - due to the extracted factors. The aim of this paper is to isolate homogeneous groups of customers, similar in some factors. The study were carried out on the basis of data provided by the province logistics infrastructure.

Ukazano teoretyczne związki pomiędzy segmentacją rynku a wartością przedsiębiorstwa turystycznego oraz potencjalne i faktyczne możliwości zwiększenia wartości przedsiębiorstwa poprzez realizację procesu segmentacji rynku. Przedstawiono praktycznie w jakim zakresie segmentacja rynku jest postrzegana jako czynnik wzrostu wartości przedsiębiorstwa przez przedsiębiorstwa turystyczne.

In the theoretical part of the paper there is defense of a thesis that market segmentation potentially and indirectly influences the value of enterprise, by shaping the point of entry for some proper marketing activities. The real benefits depend on the quality of segmentation process performed (the appropriateness of segmentation criteria and procedures chosen). In the practical part there are presented results of the author's research on how market segmentation is being viewed in tourism enterprises as their value's growth factor. In general the tourism enterprises know and take advantage of market segmentation, but at the same time they think that market segmentation hardly influences their enterprises' values. On average, every third company researched declared that segmentation is an important marketing factor shaping enterprise's value, but only in 8% of tourism firms segmentation is being treated as the most important factor. One can see the bigger role of market segmentation in the process of enterprises' value creation in those companies which operate on developing markets, on markets with significant and quick changes, on a nationwide scale, in strong competitive conditions, in large companies with foreign or mixed capital and managerial custody, evaluating their financial condition as a very good one.
