When comparing shares quoted on the stock exchange, investors the most often use the criteria which are based on selected parameters of the probability distribution. In such approach historical date are being used and a discrete probability distribution of random returns is assumed. The omega ratio is a measure which takes into account all the information about the probability distribution. In this paper we present the example of applying the omega ratio to the evaluation of shares assuming a continuous distribution of returns. The aim of this paper is to empirically verify the relationship between the order (according to the omega ratio) of random decision alternatives and the assumed probability distribution.

This paper presents the Omega meter - quite new tool to measure investment efficiency and risk. One of its major advantages is the independence from the assumptions made regarding the distribution of investment returns being analysed. It also allows for comparison of investment efficiency and riskiness of different assets. The article focuses on the essential characteristics of the meter and the presents methods for its point estimation. An empirical comparison with other risk adjusted measures of investment efficiency was made. The comparison was performed on investment funds of different categories. Omega meter in some cases allows to obtain more valuable information than the other regarded measures of investment efficiency. However, empirical research shows that efficiency measurement results are not much different when using Omega and Sortino ratio.

The chapter tackles the issue of state aid as an instrument of policy. It formulates postulates on two basic criteria for evaluating programmes and projects of state aid, i.e. effectiveness and efficiency as well as on how to measure them. It argues the growing influence of the European Union on the construction of national state aid systems, which now goes beyond ensuring compliance with competition rules in the single European market.

As a result arising from the implementation of the Mission Oriented Scorecard should be the improvement of the functioning of the organization, and consequently the implementation of the vision, or at a shorter period of time- the strategy of the organization. It occurs however, that in organizations where the system is implemented (or its components), there is a situation in which employees, being accountable for a specific value metrics, carry undesirable actions from the point of view of the mission and the strategy of the company. The aim of this article is to examine the function-oriented mission Scorecard as a tool for leading employees (including managers) to achieve the objectives of the organization and to examine these problems in the functioning of the Mission Oriented Scorecard.

The aim of this paper is to present the possibility of using multidimensional comparison analysis and DEA to evaluate the efficiency of the hospitals for with the payer is the National Health Fund (NHF). There were used Hellwig's taxonomical meter of development and DEA method letting to analyze the relative efficiency of the units surveyed. The obtained results allow to determine the relative efficiency of hospitals care in individual voivodships.

The purpose of this article is to learn ways of measuring the inter-organizational collaboration efficacy and adapting them in public safety management. This paper presents the essence of inter-organizational collaboration in public management, guidelines for control of its performance and its determinants in shaping safety. The proposed method of measuring collaboration efficacy is both, quantitative and qualitative. However, this method is open and indicators can be shaped according to individual needs.
