In the present article, we show how the native background manifests in the form, as well as in the content of the original version of the Guadalupan Nican Mophua. We also present the examples of difficulties which arise in translation of this text into Polish, resulting from the particularities of the nahuatl language, such as the specific way of constructing the images of the world and of transmitting religious and philosophical concepts. These concepts, of a genuine Christian and marianologic nature, are clearly manifested in our source text.
