The article describes character of activities and thematic areas of Czech non-profit organizations that focus on promoting gender equality and women's rights in 1990s. Beside the women's organizations the attention is paid to identify the other projects aimed at supporting women or gender equality, but addressed by non-profit organizations whose main object of activity is broader. In addition, the article explores the pro-women oriented non-profit organisations in terms of their memberships, organizational background and geographical extent of their activities. The shifts in topics and activities of Czech women's organizations are identified in process of EU accession and particularly due to change of available resources of funding. This process led to marginalization of 'not mainstream' topics, but in other areas it led to an increase of range of actors addressing projects to promote gender issues (mainly in area of improvement of equal opportunities on the labour market).

According to the 2011 census, approximately 12% of the population of Slovakia declared their belonging to national minorities. Government funding has been available to organizations engaged in minority cultural activities since 1998, and since then it has become the most important income source for minority organizations. The aim of the paper is twofold. It analyses the system itself which encompasses the changes and continuities in the funding system in terms of rules, priorities, and the budget, but also the changes in the activity of the organizations, the distribution of project proposals by project type, and the type and nationality of the applicant. Besides this, the data provided by the donors are utilized for the sake of the analysis of the composition and structure of minority institutional systems in Slovakia. The analysis is based on documents and data published by the donors on the internet. The analysis of the internal structure and inequalities within institutional systems showed, that the smaller minorities, in fact, tend to rely on an even more limited number of hierarchically structured organizations that try to cover as wide a range of activities as possible and receive the dominant share of the funding allocated to the respective minorities.

This study analyses the initial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on theatres in the Czech Republic. The pandemic has had a significant impact on performing arts, especially on theatres, and has tested the resilience of the entire system. This study compares the different levels of its impact during the first wave of measures taken to avoid the spread of the virus and the response of the hundred and forty-six theatres in the Czech Republic to the crisis. Using data from a broad survey and applying multiple correlation analyses, the study seeks relationships between selected indicators (finance, HR, artistic performance) before the crisis and the level of impact during the early stage of the pandemic. It demonstrates that theatres founded by the state or by local governments were more resilient to the initial, immediate impact of COVID-19 and were better prepared for possible economic shocks than non-profit theatres. The study results also confirm that the pandemic affected non-profit theatres severely. The study provides rare empirical data on the initial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
