The article provides an introduction to the basic tenets of Carl Schmitt’s international thought.  It discusses such notions as the nomos of the Earth, the development of Jus Publicum Europaeum and the non-discriminating concept of war.  Schmitt’s thought attached particular importance to the transformations that the concept of war has undergone in modern European history. This historical process is the major subject of our analysis, as well as some other accompanying problems related to the nature of modern state and modern international order.

Artykuł stanowi wprowadzenie do podstawowych zagadnień związanych z problematyką międzynarodową w myśli Carla Schmitta. Zarysowane zostają pojęcie nomosu Ziemi, przekształcenia w obrębie Jus Publicum Europaeum oraz nieróżnicujące pojęcie wojny. Schmitt przypisuje szczególne znaczenie przemianie pojęcia wojny w nowożytnej historii Europy. Rzeczony proces historyczny jest głownym tematem tekstu wraz z pokrewnymi zagadnieniami odsyłającymi do natury nowożytnego państwa i ładu międzynarodowego.
