The account by Stefan Staszewski (as well as, to some degree, supplementary comments by Wladyslaw Bienkowski and Maria Turlejska), discussed by the author, refers to the events of 1956. S. Staszewski was then the Ist Secretary of the Warsaw Committee of the Polish United Workers Party (PUWP), W. Bienkowski - a close collaborator of Wladyslaw Gomulka, who was elected in October 1956 to the post of the First Secretary of the Central Committee of PUWP and M. Turlejska - a historian who then had connections within the communist milieu. The report, written by the author in 1978, is supplemented with a comment by Stanislaw Kuzinski, who in 1956 was a Secretary of the Warsaw Committee of PUPW, which the author obtained in 2006.
