Contemporary village can not be limited to the development of agricultural production only. In a modern economy it is necessary to bring added value to the offered products or services (innovation). The National Educational Farm Network is an example of an innovative project (network) in terms of rural areas development and social activity. The idea of educational farms was established in 2011. Its aim is to popularize the agricultural aspect of villages with using of local resources. Within a few years, it has met with great interest, not only of the tourists but also the owners and institutional environment. The aim of the elaboration was to assess the activities of educational farms as an example of innovation in rural areas of Pomerania voivodeship. One of the innovative directions of diversification the rural economy are educational services based on agricultural holding potential. Currently there are 239 farms making educational activities in the National Educational Farm Network including 20 farms in the Pomeranian voivodeship. Their educational offer is a new direction of activity that fulfills the wider social mission. A rich offer of educational packages facilitates the development of this form of education in rural areas. It is directed first of all to children and school teenagers. The subject of educational programs is very diverse and concerns both plant and animal production, processing, promotion of organic food and concerns also cultural heritage and lifestyle of residents. Educational farms are a good example of innovative entrepreneurship in rural areas of Pomerania. They enable farmers to search for additional income, activate not only the local community but also enrich the local economy.

Współczesna wieś nie może ograniczać się jedynie do rozwoju produkcji rolniczej. W nowoczesnej gospodarce niezbędne jest wnoszenie wartości dodanej do oferowanych produktów lub usług (m.in. innowacyjność). Ogólnopolska Sieć Zagród Edukacyjnych jest przykładem innowacyjnego przedsięwzięcia sieciowego w zakresie rozwoju obszarów wiejskich i aktywności społecznej. Za innowacje zwykło się uważać zmiany w aspekcie gospodarczym i społecznym, a za takie można uznać tworzenie zagród edukacyjnych, których ideą jest popularyzacja rolniczego oblicza wsi z wykorzystaniem zasobów lokalnych. Niniejsze opracowanie ma na celu przede wszystkim zaprezentowanie aspektów funkcjonowania zagród edukacyjnych na obszarach wiejskich Pomorza jako przykładu innowacyjności. Jednym z innowacyjnych kierunków dywersyfikacji wiejskiej gospodarki są usługi edukacyjne, bazujące na potencjale gospodarstwa rolnego. W pierwszej części pracy, na podstawie literatury, ukazano problematykę definiowania innowacji i innowacyjności oraz ich wpływ na rozwój współczesnej wsi. Zobrazowano istotę i znaczenie sieci zagród edukacyjnych. Zakres przestrzenny badań obejmował województwo pomorskie, toteż w części drugiej artykułu scharakteryzowano gospodarstwa badanego regionu, zrzeszone w Ogólnopolskiej Sieci Zagród Edukacyjnych. Oferta edukacyjna prezentowanych gospodarstw wiejskich jest obiecującym nowym kierunkiem działalności uzupełniającym podstawowe źródła dochodu mieszkańców wsi oraz spełniającym szeroko rozumianą misję społeczną.
