Objective – The author investigates selected international and local organizations, institutions and journals focused on the popularization of information literacy. Research method - The discussion of the organizations and journals in question was based on the analysis of various types of documents. Results and conclusions – Nearly 50 years after the term information literacy was coined one may notice new institutions being established and new substructures arising within the existing organizations, both focused on the promotion of the concept in question. Increasing interest in information literacy is confirmed by journals offering researchers more and more opportunities to share ideas, achievements and experience in this field of studies.

Teza/Cel artykułu – Celem artykułu jest prezentacja wybranych organizacji, instytucji i wydawnictw ciągłych, służących popularyzacji idei information literacy. W zestawieniu znalazły się inicjatywy realizowane na arenie międzynarodowej, a także lokalnie. Metody badań – Działalność tych organizacji i wydawnictw omówiona została na podstawie analizy różnych typów dokumentów. Wyniki i wnioski – Po blisko pięćdziesięciu latach od pojawienia się terminu information literacy możemy zaobserwować wyodrębnianie się ze struktur istniejących organizacji takich ich komórek, których działalność poświęcona jest propagowaniu idei information literacy. Powoływane są również nowe instytucje, którym przyświeca ten sam cel. Wzrost zainteresowania problematyką information literacy potwierdzają czasopisma, których zadaniem jest wymiana myśli pomiędzy teoretykami i praktykami z całego świata, prezentacja osiągnięć i wymiana doświadczeń w zakresie edukacji informacyjnej.
