The article describes results of a public opinion pool on Polish science and science communication. The survey has been realised in September 2005 on a sample representative of adult (15-75) population of Poles. Different issues have been questioned, e.g. are people interested in contemporary science, do they feel well informed about its latest achievements, how do they use different sources of information, which forms of contact with scientists they find the most profitable, as well as what is the perception of the Polish science in society. Described results can be used by scientists and everyone involved in science popularisation to know more about information needs and social expectations regarding communication in science.
