It is analyzed the most well-known methods that are used in assessing the economic damage from environmental degradation. It is also found that the currently existing methods have many shortcomings that require improvement and development of new approaches.
The article describes the existing approaches of economic mechanism for assessing the environmental risk arising from increased development pressure in the industrial centers, cities and regions. We identified the economic criteria that can be for screening assessment and for full procedure of environmental risk assessment.
