The article deals with the question of early medieval holy mountains identified in the course of archaeological studies in the Polish lands. On the basis of delimitation of the space considered as sacral, four types of such mountains have been determined, and within one of the types additionally two sub-types. The fifth type of mountainous sanctuaries has been isolated on the basis of a functional criterion, on the basis of the significance of non-archaeological sources.
