In the paper I sketched some applications of non-Kolmogorovian probabilities (including complex- and non-Archimedean-valued) and non-Archimedean fuzziness in the CADIAG expert system. This work I started this year.

Where does the uncertainty of our knowledge of natural world come from? Does our knowledge turn more reliable after our acceptance of the need of the mathematization of nature and formalization of the experiment results? Is there between the above mentioned poles (i.e. uncertainty vs. unquestionable knowledge built after the model of the mathematization of the experiment results) any other epistemic space which made the guaranteed certainty in physics possible? Should this certainty be conceived – on the background of the absolute or metaphysical certainty – as insufficient, or as an application of the mathematical model? Leibniz stands for the idea that the high probability of moral certainty could reach the truth of the latter. The aim of the paper is to analyse this very probability logic with attention paid to making use of it in natural philosophy.

The paper deals with the role of chance in the evolution of the Universe. Chance (randomness) does not undermine the structure of the Universe encoded in the laws of nature, but constitutes an indispensable element of that structure, an element in-built, in a non-linear way, in the dynamic architecture of the whole. Moreover, random events do not contradict mathematical orderliness of the Universe, because they themselves are mathematical in character. The paper suggests also that mathematical structure of the Universe echoes the Mind of God which, together with the previous statements, implies that random events are important part of that Mind.

In the recent years, the literary scientific narratology instrumentation has found the possibilities of its self-realization in the field of other fictional or factual narratives as well, e.g. in the film, psychology or journalism. In historiography, especially in the so called micro-history, there are texts having the shape of a story, which makes their structure similar to literary narrative texts. Also they could include the case of the peasant Martin Guerre of the 16th century. He left his wife Bertrande in the French village of Artigat for an unknown place. After years had passed, a man claiming to be Guerre arrived and Bertrande admitted him into her house. This famous case was also published in the form of a historical document by the Canadian historian Natalie Z. Davis. Against the background of the above mentioned text, the aim of this paper is to examine the possibilities of the application of the narratological instrumentation (e.g. focalization), and especially the issue of reliability and its possible semantic refinement towards the story and its presentation as well as to its reference level.

One part of the paper is devoted to frequency interpretation, as advocated by early K. Popper. However, the main subject of the paper is Popper's own propensity interpretation of probability. It outlines the fundamental principles of the propensity interpretation, as well as its relation to quantum theory and its various variants. In conclusion it examines the so called Humpreys' paradox as related to the interpretation of causality in the frame of Popper's propensity interpretation.
