The article provides basic information to help family members take advantage of psychotherapy. The author argues the significance of psychotherapy in the current culture. Based up on selected definitions of psychotherapy and International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10) the author describes which groups of disorders can we cured by this form of treatment. The paper debates about the main schools and practical forms of psychotherapy. Moreover advises useful methods in the process of decision making, by seeking professional psychological help. In the last part of the article one discusses some of the most significant, ethical and anthropological aspects of the process of psychotherapy.
