The paper revises several theses proposed by Antonín Škarka and Hana Vlhová-Wörner concerning the Dominican Domaslaus and the alleged group of poets around him. First, it draws attention to two hitherto neglected sources demonstrating that Domaslaus lived in the second half of the thirteenth century. Second, it provides a detailed poetological analysis of the corpus of nine sequences of Bohemian origin that have been ascribed to the “Domaslaus circle” by Škarka. Comparing the formal quality, the way the author works with his model poem, the quantity of particular figures or tropes and the narrative technique, the paper shows that the sequences are too heterogeneous to be the work of a single poet. Apart from the piece with his name in acrostic, only two more sequences can be ascribed to Domaslaus himself or to a disciple of his. The other sequences probably originated in the canonry of St. Vitus.
