This article is an attempt to assess the quality of television programs targeted to Ukrainiannational minority in Poland. Public media in Poland have an obligation  of broadcasting programs for the minorities in their languages, which is imposed by the law on broadcasting. For the Ukrainian minority the Polish public television broadcasts three programs: „Przegląd ukraiński”, „Ukraińskie wieści” oraz „Telenowyny”. In this article the most important quality issues of these programs, such as duration of programs, subject diversity, methods of translation, technical aspects as well as the way of showing the civil unrest in Ukraine known as Euromaidan, are presented. An analysis was conducted within the timespan before, during and after the wave of demonstrations  in Ukraine (from 21 July 2013 to 22 June 2014).

Artykuł stanowi studium przypadku współpracy między naukową pracownią dokumentacyjno-bibliograficzną – Pracownią Bibliografii Bieżącej Instytutu Badań Literackich Polskiej Akademii Nauk, twórczynią Polskiej Bibliografii Literackiej – a Archiwum Telewizji Polskiej. Współpraca zainicjowana przez PBB miała na celu pozyskanie, w formie cyfrowej, metadanych zasobów archiwalnych TVP, które posłużyć miały do wzbogacenia zasobu danych PBL. Przypadek opisano w sposób wieloaspektowy: I) określono merytoryczny kontekst współpracy z perspektywy, tj. potrzeby informacyjne PBL na tle dotychczasowego zakresu dokumentacji telewizyjnej recepcji literatury oraz na tle przemian źródeł informacji (zanikają źródła drukowane, pojawiają się możliwości przetwarzania źródeł cyfrowych); II) opisano proces nawiązywania współpracy z Archiwum, w szczególności problem wykorzystania metadanych archiwalnej bazy danych do celów dokumentacji nie tyle danej jednostki archiwalnej, co raczej abstrakcyjnie pojmowanego zjawiska kulturalnego (audycji, programu telewizyjnego etc.); III) zaprezentowano analizę technicznych problemów związanych z przetwarzaniem danych (będących pokłosiem współpracy instytucji posiadających własne modele danych i to tworzone w innych celach); IV) zaproponowano wnioski z przedstawionego studium przypadku: a) dotyczące formalnej strony współpracy w zakresie wykorzystywania metadanych instytucji dziedzictwa (kontekst standardów metadanych, różnych tradycji ich powstawania oraz współczesnych instytucjonalnych celów zarządzania metadanymi); b) dotyczące szerszego („miękkiego”) problemu „rozumienia danych” (data literacy) w instytucjach nauki i kultury.

The article is a case study of cooperation between scientific documentary and bibliographic working group – the Working Group of Current Bibliography (WGCB) of the Institute of Literary Studies, Polish Academy of Sciences, the creator of the Polish Literary Bibliography – and the Polish Television Archives. The cooperation initiated by the WGCB aimed at collecting, in digital form, metadata of archival holdings of the Polish Television (TVP), that were supposed to enrich data resources of the PLB. The case was described in a multi-faceted manner: I) the context was depicted on the basis of merit, i.e. information needs of the PLB on the background of the up-to-date range of television recordings of literature reception and on the background of changing information sources (atrophy of printed sources, arising possibilities of processing digital sources); II) the process of starting the cooperation with the Archives was described, especially the problem of using metadata from an archival database for documenting not particular archival units, but abstractly perceived cultural phenomena (a broadcast, a TV programme, etc.); III) analysis of technical problems with processing data was depicted (results of cooperation between institutions with own data models, created for different purposes); IV) conclusions from the case study were presented: a) about the procedural side of cooperation in using metadata from heritage institutions (the context of metadata standards, various traditions of creating them, and contemporary institutional purposes of managing them); b) about the broader (“soft”) problem of “understanding data” (data literacy) in scientific and cultural institutions.

Artykuł jest próbą zrekonstruowania powstania oraz analizą działalności i strategii programowej – założonego w 2008 r. przy Stowarzyszeniu Filmowców Polskich – Studia Munka. Podstawowe pytanie badawcze, jakie stawia sobie autor tekstu, dotyczy dialogu produkcyjnego między pokoleniami, których przedstawiciele byli inicjatorami powstania studiów mających produkować filmy młodych reżyserów. A zatem: jak idea Studia Munka koresponduje z – zasłużonymi dla historii polskiego kina – instytucjami filmowymi, takimi jak zespoły filmowe, Studio Filmowe im. Karola Irzykowskiego czy Filmowe Studio Młodych im. Andrzeja Munka, działające na przełomie lat 70. i 80. w strukturach TVP?

The article is an attempt to reconstruct the creation and analyse the activity and strategy of the Munk’s Studio, created in 2008 by the Polish Filmmakers Association. The basic research question posed by the author of the text concerns the dialogue on film production between the generations, whose representatives were the initiators behind the opening of the studio dedicated to the production of work by young film directors. So how does the idea of Munk’s Studio correspond with the – meritorious for the history of Polish cinema – film institutions, such as Film Groups, Karol Irzykowski Film Studio or Film Studio for the Young named after Andrzej Munk, and operating at the turn of the 1970s and 1980s in the structures of Polish Television?

Włodzimierz Sokorski is regarded as one of the most colourful characters associated with the power elite of the Polish People’s Republic, although there are no scientific attempts to verify his real position among politically influential people and his relations with them. The latter could have had a significant impact on the degree of the party apparatus’ interference with the work he was performing on different positions he held. The purpose of the article is to fill in these gaps for the period when Włodzimierz Sokorski was a president of the Radio Committee (1956–72). Basing on the analysis of both archival and printed sources, the author outlines the circumstances related to Sokorski’s appointment to the chairmanship of the Committee together with the importance of his relations with Władysław Gomułka and Zenon Kliszko for his future political career, and the reasons for which he was dismissed from the Committee under Edward Gierek team. A considerable place is devoted to the reflections on President Sokorski’s attitude in crucial moments for the government system (‘Polish months’). On the margin of the article, a problem of personnel purges in the Polish Radio and Television was raised, the largest taking place during his tenure in 1957–59 and in March ’68.

Włodzimierz Sokorski uchodzi za jedną z barwniejszych postaci kojarzonych z elitą władzy PRL, choć brakuje – jak do tej pory – naukowych prób weryfikacji, jaką naprawdę pozycję zajmował w gronie wpływowych politycznie osób i jakie relacje go z nimi łączyły. Te ostatnie mogły mieć znaczący wpływ na stopień ingerencji aparatu partyjnego w pracę na zajmowanych przez niego stanowiskach. Artykuł stawia sobie za cel wypełnienie tych luk w odniesieniu do okresu, kiedy Włodzimierz Sokorski pełnił funkcję prezesa Radiokomitetu (1956–1972). Na podstawie analizy źródeł archiwalnych i już opublikowanych autor zarysował okoliczności związane z powołaniem Sokorskiego na stanowisko, znaczenie relacji, jakie łączyły go z Władysławem Gomułką i Zenonem Kliszką, dla dalszego biegu kariery politycznej oraz powody, dla których został odwołany z Komitetu już za rządów ekipy Edwarda Gierka. Istotne miejsce w tekście zajmują rozważania na temat postawy prezesa Sokorskiego w chwilach przełomowych dla systemu władzy („polskie miesiące”). Na marginesie artykułu poruszono ponadto wątek czystek kadrowych w Polskim Radiu i Telewizji, które największe rozmiary przybrały za jego kadencji w latach 1957–1959 oraz w okresie Marca 1968 r.

Negligent supervision of the Belsat TV channel and local branches, contracts for mass events concluded with providers only after their completion, excessively high costs related to the establishment and operations of the Poland In channel and portal, im proper assets management – these are just a few of the irregularities disclosed by the Supreme Audit Office in the Polish Television (TVP SA). The objective of the audit was to examine whether the company properly managed its assets and financial re sources. The audit was conducted in 2020, it covered the years 2014–2020, and it concerned the TVP SA Main Headquarters and its 16 local branches. It revealed that the Polish Television had developed and implemented multiannual strategic plans that set directions for multiannual policies on human resources, investments and finance. However, the audit also indicated irregularities in the management of assets and fi nancial resources of TVP, as well as insufficient supervision of the local branches. Moreover, NIK also commented on the restructuring measures introduced by TVP in the years 2013–2014, comprising outsourcing of services and staff outsourcing. In his article, the author has discussed the findings of this audit.

Nierzetelny nadzór nad kanałem Belsat TV i oddziałami terenowymi, zawieranie umów z kontrahentami na organizację imprez dopiero po ich zrealizowaniu, bardzo wysokie koszty związane z utworzeniem i prowadzeniem kanału oraz portalu Poland In, niewłaściwe administrowanie nieruchomościami – to tylko niektóre nie prawidłowości ujawnione przez Najwyższą Izbę Kontroli w Telewizji Polskiej. Kontrola miała odpowiedzieć na pytanie, czy spółka właściwie zarządza majątkiem i gospodaruje środkami finansowymi.
