The paper presents attitudes of Polish minority in Lithuania towards its situation and needs as a national minority living in democratising country exposed in articles from Czerwony Sztandar/Kurier Wileński (Red Banner/Vilnian Courier) between 1988–1990, being the greatest Polish language journal in Lithuania. The journal was the main and most popular Polish language medium that took the role of distributing rules and customs prevailing in democratic country. The journal’s community supported independence for Lithuania and encouraged Poles to join in for the creation of independent country. The author claims that the journal was unjustly accused by Lithuanian conservative communities of anti-lithuanian and anti-national attitudes.

Celem artykułu jest ukazanie prasy polskojęzycznej we Włoszech – kwartalnika „Polonia Włoska. Biuletyn Informacyjny” oraz pisma „Nasz Świat. Dwutygodnik Informacyjny dla Polaków we Włoszech” – jako materiału dydaktycznego w nauczaniu jpjo i kultury polskiej, poprzez przedstawienie języka, jakim pisane są teksty prasowe w obu analizowanych tytułach, oraz tematyki poruszanej w artykułach. Oba periodyki mogą służyć jako pomoc w nauce jpjo – i to osobom na różnych poziomach znajomości języka: średnim i zaawansowanym, a szerokie spektrum poruszanych tematów pozwala zapoznać się z zagadnieniami, które osoba przystępująca do egzaminu z jpjo powinna znać, w tym szczególnie z elementami kultury polskiej.

The aim of the article is to present the Polish language press in Italy – the quarterly Polonia Włoska. Biuletyn Informacyjny and the biweekly Nasz Świat. Dwutygodnik Informacyjny dla Polaków we Włoszech – as educational materials in teaching Polish as a foreign language and Polish culture. The author discusses the language of both magazines and the topics they cover. Both periodicals can be used as an aid in learning Polish by people on different levels of knowledge of the Polish language: intermediate and advanced. The wide spectrum of the topics covered in the magazines enables the students to learn about the issues which should be known to a person who wants to take the Polish language state examination, specially the elements of Polish culture.
