The relation between economic and demographic level of Opole Province and an economic situation of transport companies has been presented in the article. The research includes a situation of all transport companies running over one common brand PKS in mentioned region. In the results of the research the level of correlation between certain factors in scale of region and district has been presented.

In this paper the author presents the development of the high speed rail network in Europe, and models of operating high speed lines in terms of accessibility for regional passenger trains and regional community services. This paper is concerned with analysis of the high speed rail network in France, Germany and Spain - European leaders of high speed rail. The experience of these three countries shows that the construction of high speed routes can stimulate the development of regional passenger traffic and increase regional growth.

An important factor of regional market integration of passenger in Poland to the European market are issues related to transportation funding and shaping the development of this market in accordance with the requirements of the European Union. These issues concern, among other things, rationalization of public expenditure and to seek new solutions to funding the development of regional passenger market, ie private investment funds, EU funds, etc., also make better use of development policy instruments to improve the absorption of funds from European Union funds The subject of discussion is to discuss sources of financing regional passenger transport in Poland and analysis of the use of public and EU funds in the years 2004-2010 to shape the development of this market in the process of integration with the European market.

The purpose of this article is to provide guidelines for improving the efficiency of road network management in Poland.
