Numerous finds of ranged weapons typical for nomadic societies of Eastern Europe and Asia have been discovered in the archaeological material from the Great Moravian and post Great Moravian periods. These include a reflex composite bow; specific types of arrowheads, ending with a thorn, with rhombic, deltoid or forked shape; and their accessories, a quiver (gorythos). Bearers of these weapons left numerous grave finds in the area of Slovakia, as well as some evidence of battles. If these are compared with the written sources, they clearly demonstrate the turbulent character of the 10th century, which led to the formation of new states.
