The study deals with the problems connected with the status of dative reflexive marker “si” and its lexicographical processing in Slovak dictionaries. Linguists do not share a common view in which cases the usage of dative reflexive marker can be described as an example of lexical reflexivity (reflexive words with derivative or empty lexical morphemes or reflexive variants), syntactic reflexivity (reflexive constructions with reflexive pronouns) or it is pragmatically motivated (non-reflexive verbs with particle “si” fulfilling pragmatic functions). The study describes the discrepancies in lexicographical processing of the given marker and offers solutions concerning its status in different types of constructions and semantic groups of verbs.

We analyse reflexivity of Slovak verbs based on Slovak National Corpus. We derive a simple parameter describing the amount of reflexivity for a given verb, based on the distribution of the reflexive pronouns in the left and right context of the verb in the corpus, and apply the method to sort the verbs in the Slovak National Corpus according to the parameter. The method allows us to classify verbs automatically according to their reflexivity, given enough amounts of their occurrences in the corpus.

This sketch presents important conceptions of reflectivity - including those of Anthony Giddens and Niklas Luhmann - as well as the developmental stages of the new interest in reflectivity, as opposed to reflection, on the grounds of sociology, and through sociology - in other social sciences as well. Subsequently, attention is drawn to radical reflectivity. Social theory based on the latter is a praxis theory, formulating opinions and beliefs, the propagation of which should lead to their confirmation as a result of their reflexive influence on social reality. Reflectivity is also a principle of relational social epistemology, which implies the necessity of analyzing various relational dimensions of the subject, as well as knowledge understood as a social process. The principle of radical reflectivity leads to pursuit of social theory as a multidimensional criticism of forms of knowledge and models of thinking about the world hitherto existing in European culture. In this search for critical distance, theology has also drawn the interest of reflective social theory.

The problem of linking 'explanation' and 'understanding' remains unresolved - as Weber left it. This paper challenges the view that their reconciliation is impossible, as some theorists have maintained. Their case is that the entities involved - subjective meanings and objective relationships - are too ontologically different to be combined. From the stratified ontology of Social Realism, which acknowledges that different properties and powers pertain to different components and levels of social reality, this is no barrier in principle to their combination. However, in practice Realists have not given an adequate account of how 'subjectivity' and 'objectivity' are linked, which also weakens Realism's solution to the 'problem of structure and agency'. This paper offers a refinement: the human power of reflexivity is viewed as mediating between our subjective concerns and our objective social contexts. Reflexive deliberations account for what agents actually do - and they do not all do the same thing - under very similar social circumstances. The introduction of reflexivity enables the (socially) objective and the (personally) subjective to be combined into a single account of socially structured and structuring action.

The study deals with the question when does the reflexive marker sa, si accompanying a verb present the clitic form of the pronoun and when it can be described as the reflexive morpheme used to derive verb with reciprocal semantics. Considering the results of a semantic test (reciprocity as the typical implication of the verb semantics) and syntactic test (the possibility to use the verb in the subject discontinuous construction), we came to the conclusion which verbs can be considered as derived reciprocals and thus should be processed in the dictionary and in which cases the reflexive marker is used to coin the reciprocal construction of non-reflexive verb with the reciprocity as possible, yet not typical implication.

The article shows the basic trends in the changes of the way of life of people in the Hlučínsko micro-region. The way of life has been defined as a set of rules orienting individual‘s behaviour in events of one's life. A specific tool was designed for the analysis of the modernization of the way of life. The source of the changes of the way of life is the effort of the innovators to fulfil their authentic needs. Giddens` theory of double structuration is used as an explanation of the specific processes of transformation of the way of life allowing to highlighting the role of reflexivity in the transformation of the rules of the way of life. Guided by the principles of the explanatory frame, the empirical analysis has shown the most important processes of modernization of the way of life in Hlučín mikro-region. It is possible to identify them in the following areas – work life, family life and religious life.

Niniejszy artykuł bada i  objaśnia przywództwo jako refleksywny proces współdecyzyjny. Zastosowane podejście polega na analizie sposobu, w  jaki przywódca przekazuje swoją wizję innym członkom organizacji, gdy relacja pomiędzy nimi jest skomplikowana, oraz sposobu, w  jaki tzw. ciemna strona wpływa na przywództwo. Analiza obejmuje trzy kroki: 1) wprowadzone zostają pojęcia refleksywności i  dyskursywności; 2) przywołana zostanie teoria przywództwa Chestera Barnarda w  odniesieniu do refleksywności; 3) zanalizowany zostanie przykład, mianowicie legendarne odejście Steve’a Jobsa z  Apple’a w  1985  r. i  związane z  nim okoliczności. Szczególną uwagę zwrócono na sferę dyskursywną listu rezygnacyjnego Jobsa. Wyniki badania prowadzą do dwóch wniosków.

This paper examines and explicates leadership as a reflexive co-determinative process. The approach is an analysis of how a leader relates his/her view and vision to other organizational members when the relationship between them is entangled and how the so-called 'dark side' affects leadership. Three steps inform the analysis: 1) reflexivity and discursivity are introduced as constructs; 2) Chester Barnard's theory of leadership in relation to reflexivity is revisited. 3) I analyze an exemplary case: the legendary 'event' surrounding Steve Jobs' 1985 departure from Apple. Particular attention is paid to the discourse sphere of Jobs' letter of resignation. The results suggest two points. First, having vision is one of the attributes of a leader, where such a vision can have positive or negative effects. Vision may lure the leader and his/her organization to the dark side due to internal or external power disputes. Second, a successful visionary leader needs followers who understand, share, shape, and implement their leader's visions as part of a reflexive co-determinative process.
