Since the entry enables entrepreneurs to take up business activity, and a person taking up and running such activity has a status of an entrepreneur, pursuant to the provisions of the Act on Free Business Activity, therefore it would be proper to treat the entry in the Register as a constitutive act; after making such entry a physical person would become an entrepreneur. The particulars covered by the entry cannot be removed from the Register. They are only subject to updating, the particular form of which is striking off. Striking off an entry prevents an entrepreneur from carrying on business activity, however the information about the entrepreneur remains in the Register.

The present article offers a register analysis of 57 informal emails produced by Czech learners of English of the intermediate level of proficiency. The register (lexical-grammatical) analysis builds upon Biber and Conrad (2009). First, the situational characteristics of the register are described. A number of lexical-grammatical features are subsequently examined. More specifically, the paper focuses on the use of full as well as short forms as features typical of written and spoken language. The results show and corroborate the assumption that both forms can be found in the pieces of writing under investigation.

The image of the town of Šahy in the mirror of the works of Nicolaus Istuanfius, Matthias Belius, Ignaz Aurelius Fessler, András Vályi, Elek Fényes and Samu Borovszky points out that the first written records in the preserved documents were mentioned in the first half of the 13th century and the history of the town was closely connected with the Hunt-Poznan family or the local Premonstratensian convent. The activities of the Premonstratensian monks, the gradual acquisition of various city rights and the increase in population during the High and Late Middle Ages strengthened the strategic importance of the town step by step. However, this positive trend disrupted the Ottoman invasion. This devastating effects along with events of 1552 led to an escape of the inhabitants, to burning of the town or to relocation of the convent archives. The town has long been suffering from the negative effects of the Ottoman presence and the political or religious fragmentation of the Kingdom of Hungary, even after the expulsion of the Ottomans from the country. The 19th century contributed to the effective modernization of the town. As Šahy became the administrative centre of the Hont County, new institutions and various associations were established and intellectual milieu was stimulated. However, the 19th century also had its downsides. Despite advancing health education and improving health care, the fight against infectious diseases has often been futile, causing people to experience family tragedies. This is evidenced by the information extracted from the registries used in the study in connection with the cholera pandemic.

O tzv. české diglosii v současném světě

70%
EN
This article considers the development of the definitions of diglossia and diglossic language communities from Ferguson's original 1959 proposal through to the present day and their bearing on Czech. Czech has often been proposed as an example of diglossia, and this article tests some of these definitions against the Czech language situation in Bohemia, bringing to bear examples of current usage from a variety of situations, including television, advertising, business meetings, and e-mail. The examples demonstrate the degree to which features of different codes are intermingled in speech and writing in a way proscribed under descriptions of diglossia. They also testify to growth in new means of communication that mix features of the high and low varieties. The current Czech language situation is thus analysed as 'post-diglossic', with many of the attitudes and beliefs associated with diglossia still persisting in the Czech environment, while actual language usage exhibits diglossic patterns in an ever-narrowing range of communicative situations.
