This article presents the evolution and current status of bank supervision and banking reporting systems in the Republic of Belarus. The existing bank supervision system is presented and compared with commonly accepted best international standards and also with Basel recommendations. The legal framework governing bank supervision, its position in banking system, objectives and targets and also anticipated changes to the legal framework are presented. Final conclusions include a brief evaluation of the current supervision system.
