The paper discusses Alexander Kerensky’s views on the Polish question at the time when he was aspiring for the highest party and state posts. The article focuses not only on the strictly political aspect but also discusses the levels of personal relations and secret organizations. Special attention was paid to the evolution of that politician’s view caused by many significant and fast occurring historical events. The role of Poles is largely emphasized, who made their presence felt in Kerensky’s private life and in his ideological sphere. The interpretation of many processes of the then political reality is based on the analysis of the stances held both by decision-makers favorably inclined towards Kerensky and by those in opposition to him, and on the examination of his own opinions and of Polish activists. The picture is completed by Kerensky’s vision of Poland’s independence and its institutions in the form he planned to restore it.
