Celem niniejszego artykułu jest omówienie zwyczaju układania dywanów kwiatowych na uroczystość Bożego Ciała, występującego – poza Spycimierzem (woj. łódzkie) i okolicami Strzelec Opolskich (woj. opolskie) – również w subregionie raciborskim. Oryginalne, różnobarwne i misternie wykonane chodniki (z trawy, tataraku oraz kwiatów ogrodowych i roślin dziko rosnących) powstają w ciągu kilku godzin, a mogą być źródłem doznań estetycznych zaledwie przez kilkadziesiąt minut, bowiem zaraz po zakończonej procesji eucharystycznej są usuwane z ulic poszczególnych miejscowości. Układanie dywanów kwiatowych stanowi fenomen kulturowy na skalę kraju, dlatego zjawisko to zostało zaprezentowane w kontekście turystyki kulturowej. Te „ulotne” dzieła sztuki są atrakcją turystyczną, zwłaszcza dla obcokrajowców chcących poszerzyć swoją wiedzę o historii i kulturze ziemi raciborskiej.

The purpose of this article is to discuss the custom of laying flower carpets for the Corpus Christi feast, which is practised – apart from Spycimierz (Lodz province) and the vicinity of Strzelce Opolskie (Opole province) – also in the Raciborz subregion. Original, colorful and intricate carpets (of grass, calamus, garden flowers and wild plants) are made for several hours, and can be a admired only for an hour or so, because immediately after the Eucharistic procession they are removed from the streets of individual cities. Laying flower carpets is a cultural phenomenon on a national scale, which is why this phenomenon was presented in the context of cultural tourism. These transient works of art are a tourist attraction, especially for foreigners who want to broaden their knowledge about the history and culture of the Raciborz area.
