Among the citizens of Płock we could meet the belief that the inhabitants of the left riverbank of the Vistula, Radziwie area, are descendants of the Tartars. In this article the author analyzed a variety e.g. (mythology, dialect, proverbs, onomastics, folklore and ethnography), associated with this conviction. The author makes a conclusion, that the name “Tatars” and stories connected with it are socially constructed stereotype of a variety elements, which have the form of a contemporary myth.
