Objectives: This study aimed to examine the reliability of functional balance tests in 7-10 year-old children, as well as the relation between the functional balance tests and anthropometric parameters.   Methods: The study sample was composed of 80 7-10 year-old children (40 boys and 40 girls) from Nishapur (Iran). The participants were selected randomly with the approval of the Nishapur Education Department. Romberg's test and Sharpened Romberg Test were used to assess static balance. Y Balance Test was used to assess semi-dynamic balance. Timed Up and Go Test and Tandem Gait Test were used to assess dynamic balance. The following anthropometric parameters were measured: weight (kg), height (cm), leg length (cm), arch of the foot (cm), upper body length (cm), lower body length (cm), upper limb length (cm). The statistical analysis was performed with SPSS 20. Findings: Romberg test was not reliable. Sharpened Romberg Test was reliable in girls. Timed Up and Go Test and Tandem Gait Test were reliable in boys. Y Balance Test was reliable in boys and girls. The analysis of the correlation between functional balance tests (static and dynamic) and anthropometric parameters according to sex showed that there was only a significant negative correlation between arch of the foot and Sharpened Romberg Test in girls (r=-.43; p=.00). Conclusions: Sharpened Romberg Test is reliable in Iranian 7-10 year-old girls. Timed Up and Go Test and Tandem Gait Test are reliable in Iranian 7-10 year-old boys. Y Balance Test is reliable in 7-10 year-old Iranian children. Static balance has a significant and negative correlation with the arch of the foot in Iranian 7-10 year-old girls.

The aim of the paper was to explore how principles of estimating validity and reliability of research instruments, as described in respected methodology textbooks, are satisfied. The initial parts of the paper delineate the theoretical framework and describe the concepts of validity and reliability. The following sections of the paper explain the process of analysis and its findings. The Journal of Educational Research was chosen as the research focus. A sample of 56 randomly selected articles from it has been inspected. The analysis revealed that a large majority (91 %) of research instruments used in these articles was scales and tests, the rest were questionnaires, observation schemes and interviews. Surprisingly, validity was calculated only with 26 of instruments; the rest of instruments were standardized tests or they were face-validated. As far as scales are concerned, construct validity was documented by means of factor analyses. Content validity and face validity were used in tests, questionnaires and interviews. We consider the infrequent use of combination of two sources of validity (e.g., construct and concurrent or discriminant) to be a weak element in the validation processes in the sample of studies. Reliability was documented with 80 % of research instruments. The most frequent method of calculation was Cronbach’s alpha. Inter-rater reliability was used in observations and tests; test-retest reliability was used to control the stability of the pretest-posttest measuring instrument. The size of reliability coefficients in most of studies exceeded 0.80. Throughout the analysis it was corroborated that when judging validity and reliability one has to critically consider the specific conditions of each research study before expressing an evaluation statement.

Background: The Weibull distribution is one of the most important lifetime distributions in applied statistics. Weibull analysis is the leading method in the world for fitting and analyzing lifetime data. We discuss one of the earliest decision support system for the assessment of a distribution for the parameters of the Weibull reliability model using expert information. We then present a different approach to assess the parameters distribution. Objectives: The studies mentioned in this paper aimed to construct a distribution of the parameters of the Weibull reliability model and apply it in the domain of Maintenance Optimization. Method: The parameters of the Weibull reliability model are considered random variables and a distribution for the parameters is assessed using informed judgment in the form of reliability estimates from vendor information, engineering knowledge or experience in the field. Results: The results are the development of modern maintenance optimization models that can be embodied in decision support systems. Conclusion: While the information management part is important in the building of maintenance optimization decision systems, the accuracy of the mathematical and statistical algorithms determines the level of success of the maintenance solution.

Określenie niezawodności populacji wyprodukowanych urządzeń jest niewątpliwie problemem trudnym i aktualnym. W przypadku gdy próba oceny jednej z najważniejszych cech jakościowych, jaką jest niezawodność, oparta jest na danych uciętych, to niezbędne są modyfikacje wykorzystywanych metod statystycznych stosowanych dla zmiennych w pełni obserwowalnych. Do analizy danych dotyczących awaryjności urządzeń AGD użyto zmodyfikowanego rozkładu Weibulla. Pozwoliło to na sformułowanie wniosków dotyczących niezawodności w zmiennych warunkach, jakie mają miejsce, gdy wyrób jest eksploatowany przez użytkownika finalnego. (fragment tekstu)

Forecasting of the manufactured appliances' reliability is a difficult and still considered issue. The article presents results of the household appliances' reliability research with the application of a modified Weibull distribution. In the first part there are shown theoretical assumptions of the research together with choice grounds of the applied model. Estimates ofparameters of the model were based on a data set, which contained censored observations. This information is derived from actual observations of warranty services of a selected production company. The second part of the paper contains the results of estimates obtained using maximum likelihood methods. It also contains comments on the usefulness of the results. The study allowed to compare changes in the reliability of the selected appliances in recent years, as well as to relate them to the quality requirements - both customer and manufacturer. W artykule skoncentrowano się na problemie adaptacyjności łańcuchów dostaw. Sieciowość łańcucha dostaw może zwiększać odporność, ale także być poten-cjalnym źródłem dodatkowych zakłóceń. Nadwyżka zasobów jest jedną ze strategii wzmacniania odporności. W artykule analizowano wpływ zakłóceń na odchylenia w przepływach materiałowych i niezawodność metalogistycznego systemu.

The network-ness of the supply chain can increase the resistance but also be a potential source of additional disruptions. The surplus resources is one of strategies of improving the resistance. In the article an influence of disruptions on deviations was be-ing analysed. In conducted examinations they fixed their attention on the reliability of the network supply chain.

Jej niedoskonałości związane z procesem ustalania wartości mogą mieć wpływ na poziom zaufania do informacji pochodzących z systemu rachunkowości. Celem artykułu jest poszukiwanie tych aspektów wyceny bilansowej, które mogą przyczyniać się do utraty wiarygodności informacji sprawozdawczych oraz utraty zaufania do nich. Zastosowano następujące metody badawcze: w trakcie studiów literatury – analizę, a podczas formułowania wniosków – dedukcję i syntezę.

Balance sheet valuation is a key area in the accounting information system. Its imperfections associated with the process of measuring values can affect the level of trust in the information received from the accounting system. The aim of this article is to search for those aspects of the balance sheet valuation, which may contribute to the loss of reliability of reporting information and loss of confidence in them. The research methods were used as follows: in the course of studying literature – analysis and during the formulation of conclusions – deduction and synthesis.

Background: Meeting service quality standards and striving for loyalty are two critical areas which have until now been overlooked by both the passenger transport industry and academia in Pakistan therefore the study sheds useful light on an issue hitherto untouched. Therefore increased sample size will help in increasing generalizability of study. Methods: This paper is designed to study the level of loyalty at Daewoo Express Bus Service in Sargodha by measuring customer satisfaction. Researchers used a small sample of only 96 respondents (passengers) and only studies customer's behavior in the service quality of Daewoo Express Bus Service however it may differ in other passenger transport services. Results and conclusions: This paper reveals that there is a positive and significant relationship between loyalty (dependant variable) and price perceptions, reliability, retrieving and smoothing (independent variables). However, the study found that reliability of services is the most important dimension among other independent variables (price perceptions, smoothing, reliability, retrieving) effecting customers loyalty at Daewoo Express. Paper under consideration would surely assist Daewoo`s management team to take care of the loopholes existing in the current service level and likely threats which Daewoo might face.

Wstęp: Spełnienie standardów obsługi klienta oraz dążenie do osiągnięcia wysokiej lojalności wśród klientów są dwoma krytycznymi obszarami, którym do tej pory poświęcano mało uwagi zarówno przez przemysł transportu pasażerskiego jak i ośrodki naukowe w Pakistanie. W związku z tym przydatnym powinna być poniższa praca, jak również badania te powinny być przeprowadzone na większych próbach w celu osiągnięcia bardziej uogólnionych wniosków. Metody: Praca bada poziom lojalności klientów Daewoo Express Bus Service w miejscowości Sargodha poprzez pomiar zadowolenia tych klientów. Autorzy przeprowadzili badania tylko na małej grupie liczącej 96 ankietowanych (pasażerów) i ograniczyli te badania tylko do Daewoo Express Bus Service, jednak wyniki podobnych badań mogą być inne w przypadku innych usług transportowych. Wyniki i wnioski: W pracy stwierdzono pozytywną i istotną zależność pomiędzy lojalnością (zmienna zależna) a postrzeganiem ceny, wiarygodnością, dostępnością i wygoda (zmienne niezależne). Badania wykazały, że wiarygodność usług jest najważniejszym czynnikiem wśród innych zmiennych niezależnych (postrzeganie ceny, dostępność i wygoda), która determinuje lojalności klientów Daewoo Express. Praca ta pomoże z pewnością kadrze kierowniczej w wyeliminowaniu istniejących braków w obecnym systemie obsługi klientów oraz uniknięciu zagrożeń przyszłości.
