This article is an attempt to look at the Slovak poet's letters to his beloved, Bohuslava Rajská, through the prism of the Theory of Letter, as well as through the specification of the Romantic Letter. The main thesis is the conviction, that the constant element of the romantic letter is the presence of stylization and self-stylization, as a specific act of putting on and taking off the masks. The role, 'played' by the sender of the letter depends on the person a letter is addressed to. Even love, manifested in writing, is an authentic performance of love rather than a true declaration. The affection, developing in the space of Imagination, is not between two real persons, but between two souls. Hrobon's letters, arranged in a specific 'Play About Love', concentrate, as in lens, all the aspects of Romantic word outlook and Romantic 'love habits'. This correspondence is a kind of performative act, a particular desire of presence.
