The classic French narratology of the 60's assumes that every cultural factor consists of two levels: surface and deep. Due to F. Braudel's researches we can place them in two kinds of time: the surface level in the time of event, and the deep level in the 'long lasting' one. Supplemented with Braudel's conception, narratology enables to cross the borderlines of the disciplinary partitioning of reality and to juxtapose two issues of seemingly incomparable disciplines - scholastic cosmology and socio-political ideology of the Sermons to the Diet by Piotr Skarga. What does this contrast effect? The hypothesis of a 'common structural core' that allows to put the scholastic view on the cosmos and the champion of counterreformation within the frame of the same cultural formation.
