In the submitted study the author has tried to present the results of mining and historical research in Slovakia for the last 20 years. However, such task is very difficult because the theme of the history of mining and metallurgy has been analysed in lot of text-books, particularly from numerous seminars, conferences or other specialized actions. Professional Slovak historiography could obtain the access to the themes of mining history only after World War II and after its institutionalization as independent science. After 1948 the published results of economic history research were limited by ideological instrumentalization and by the fact that their authors came out of Slovak Marxist national history concept. Some economic history works from these times are still timeless. After 1989 interest in economic history in Slovak historiography expressly decreased, but still has kept its continuity, in which the new generation of researchers can continue.

The year 1989 marked a new stage in the Slovak historiography which allowed a new reinterpretation of the previous research and opened up topics which were considered taboo until then. This article discusses the results of scientific research in the field of Rusyn´s history in the twenties of the last century. This later research showed that it was a crucial period for them. On the one hand, in this period began divergent development that separated Rusyns of eastern Slovakia from their countrymen in Ruthenia. On the other hand, while this development was initially perceived negatively, it is argued that of the entire homeland of Rusyns in the Carpathian Mountains, Rusyns in eastern Slovakia have probably the best prospects for their further national development.

The aim of the article is to reconstruct the image of the town of Košice produced by members of Slovak historiography, and by Czech historians working in Slovakia in the period of existence of the First Czechoslovak Republic (1918 – 1938). The article focuses on answering the questions: how was the „magyarized“ image of the town „slovakized“ by Czechoslovak historians, how they reflected on the pre-Trianon Magyarization of the town, how they referred to importance of Košice in the Hungarian nation narrative; which processes and events in the history of Košice were emphasised, and which were obeyed. The article deals with variety of strategies in picturing the town and in reinterpretation of the respective historical events in its history. It also attempts to evaluate what role Košice played in the constructed Czechoslovak national discourse. Finally, the article aims to explain reasons, why Košice in the inter-war period, despite becoming a strategic metropolitan hub of East Slovakia, was left in the peripheral position in the context of the Slovak national narrative.
