The article deals with the results of a comparative investigation of the corporate codes of ethics in the Western German and Slovak firms. The objective of this study is to highlight the differences between corporate codes of ethics of Western Germany and Slovakia and to analyse, whether they can be traced back to the specific situation of transformation in Slovakia compared to the stable context of the firms in Western Germany. We concentrated our analysis on two areas, the internal and external stakeholders addressed by the codes and the issues highlighted by the codes. With stakeholders we found that Slovak firms address more stakeholders groups in their codes. With the issues highlighted we found that Slovak firms raise more issues in their codes of ethics. We were able to interpret the differences as specific to the transformational situation of the Slovak companies.

In this paper, we attempt to show the diversity of approaches to CSR. This is done, not only through the lenses of firm size, but also in respect to measurements used for CSR reporting, enterprise social responsibility strategies as well as theory behind. We present the lack of consistency in typologies offered in the literature as regards CSR approach, the domination of stakeholder theory and blind usage the same CSR measurements for both – large and smaller enterprises.

The problem of social responsibility (CSR) has been the subject of discussion, studies and papers for many years. As for the legitimacy of the premises, there is general agreement in the academic, social, and business arenas alike. However, studies done up to this point have indicated that there remains a relatively low level of awareness and a very limited degree of implementation of this concept in practice. This article proposes to use the concept of marketing in the process of coordinating relations between stakeholders. This approach could help to implement this concept in practice; it makes reference to well-known activities and tools in economics. The problem of applying marketing in CSR is also presented on the basis of the theory of transaction costs. It is pointed out that difficulties in the coordination process resulting from the emergence of a number of transaction costs discourage companies from introducing CSR. The article is a contribution to conducting in-depth studies in this field.

The paper concentrates on the internal stakeholders of farming cooperatives and the interests they express. The conditions of meeting the employees' expectations have been discussed as well as major problems connected with their fulfillment in Polish economic practice. The research results indicate that employees interests remain resistant to the influence of the proprietorship type of the enterprise or its organizational and legal form.

The text is based on a qualitative survey with stakeholders directly or indirectly engaged in fish farming in ponds of Blatná or Blatensko region, Czech Republic. The dialog between them and academicians is directed to the fishery culture, its tradition, present, problems and possibilities of increasing the quality or prosperity of production. Stakeholders’ answers are essentially narratives, and the text is constructed as a compilation of individual narratives, which are summoned by researchers who have tried to share the story with local inhabitants. The text contains basic information about the history, current production trends in fish farming, a methodological sub-chapter, and a summary of the responses of individual stakeholders. The article structure copy peoples’ narratives, as described, for example, by William Labov, but the aim of the text is not the narrative as itself. Narratives and their interpretations is a methodological tool for obtaining adequate information on the interests, aspirations, and strategies of key people in the region in the field of fish farming. The conclusion of this text is basically a meta-narration composed of the views of individual actors, including the interpretation of the academics who created or commented this text.

This study aims to map the occurrence of various unethical business practices in the Slovak business environment, and to examine potential differences in incidence of these practices towards five key company stakeholders. Furthermore, the hypothesized connection between the occurrence of unethical practices and the company size and regional location is analysed. Data acquired by means of a questionnaire on the sample (n = 1295) stratified according to company size and regional location suggest that compared to the other stakeholders, the group “employees” is significantly less exposed to unethical practices. While the company size and the incidence of unethical practices are connected, with smaller companies being substantially more exposed, the relationship between the regional location and the occurrence of unethical practices was not confirmed.
