One of the causes of behavior disorders of young people is the inability to cope with conflict situations. Teenagers' disagreements with others are of a particularly turbulent nature, caused by the specificity of adolescence as well as new developmental tasks and social roles. The paper contains results of research on youth's declared and implemented strategies of conflict solving in relation to middle school students in Zielona Gora. The author analyzes differences in theoretical and practical styles of conflict solving concerning both peer and teacher relations. It is stressed, in conclusion, that students declare to prefer conflict solving methods based on cooperation and compromise, while in specific disagreements they choose mainly strategies based on competence and avoidance. The research shows that youngsters need help in shaping communication abilities as well as in solving conflicts with peers, teachers, and parents. The inability to successfully solve conflicts constitutes the main cause of aggressive behavior.
