The aim of the study is to make a research in genealogic and structural relationship between a genre of fantasy and a detective story. The relationship of both two genres was demonstrated through series of the interpretations of the particular texts not following strictly a historical line, but rather logic of the structural transformations. Following it a typological classification was made. The types of the texts mutually differentially defined through logical relationships: inclusive relationship between fantasy (also horror) and detective story, reversed inclusion of fantasy to a genre of a detective story, exclusion between a detective story and horror and relationship of the unique synthesis between a detective story and a fantasy. Excluding supernatural forces from the detective story operate in economy of a superior regime of the rules of fair play of a detective story (equalities of chances for a reader as well as a detective, providing by pure rationalistic solution). If there is a distributed supernatural explanation in the text, which in its exposition (and etiquette on the cover) activates the detective story reader's generic expectations, pre-programmed detective story reader classifies it as a cheat, as a breaking of a genre pact of a reader with the text. The different genres construct their specific fictional worlds with not breakable rules - breaking of them produces an overlap into a text of a different genre.

The article discusses the relation of Koji Suzuki's novel 'Ring' to the western model of gothic fiction. Genologically, the work certainly belongs to gothic fiction, as it contains all the necessary components typical for this genre. Its structure contains, among other things, such elements as the duality of the presented world and topoi characteristic for gothic fiction: the infectiousness of evil, the figure of 'the Other' as a manifestation of numinousness, the motif of a curse or a ghost seeking revenge. The concept of evil presented in the novel reflects stereotypical fears of civilisation and is closely connected with the feeling of isolation of an individual in a crowd and the belief in the destructive influence of technology. The tape with the virus is a manifestation of evil, but at the same time it is also a symbol of impotence of man against dark powers and his or her own weaknesses.

Although the Czech Republic is usually regarded as one of the most secular countries in Europe, current sociological surveys indicate that there is still a strong interest in supernatural and spiritual questions. This article begins by documenting the popularity of various religious concepts and then proceeds to analyse the socio-demographic factors that influence religious beliefs. The authoress tries to answer the question of whether and how people who believe in some kind of religious phenomenon differ in terms of sociodemographic characteristics from those who do not believe. There are two dimensions behind religious statements: a 'traditional' Christian outlook and an 'alternative' view connected with a belief in the power of magic. Further analyses indicated that traditional and alternative religious beliefs are connected with numerous socio-demographic characteristics, the most important of which is religious socialisation, measured by the frequency with which a person attended at religious services as a child and by the religious denomination of a person's mother.

The study focuses on a function of magical practices used in an unwitching procedure. The argument is based on Malinowskiś classical anthropological theory and cognitive and psychological studies of religion. The author uses ethnographic data from a long-term field research in Serbia where she investigated representations of witchcraft and sorcery beliefs are usually interpreted as explanations of misfortune. The author assumes that apart from that, they offer certain solutions of people´s problems. If an individual defines their situation in supernatural terms, the solution is also supernatural. In this context, specialists with supernatural abilities play an important role – they state what is going on and suggest solution. Unwitching procedure is highly ritualized activity. The author assumes that this procedure may be a form of emotionally driven coping strategy. At the same time, it may be perceived as effective just because the presence of an agent with supernatural abilities.

This article is an attempt to carry out a diagnosis of the naturalistic paradigm in contemporary philosophy of religion. The thesis can be put as follows: the main trend of European philosophical thought about divinity from St. Thomas, through Kant, to the masters of suspicion and then to contemporary continental and analytical philosophy is marked by a distinction between two spheres: the supernatural and the natural. The supernatural sphere, God and his supernatural powers, is opposed to the natural sphere, which is ruled by the laws of nature and human reason, which is connected with the world and capable of understanding it. This dichotomy between the supernatural and the natural dominates thought about God. Yet naturalistic paradigm is not the last word in the philosophy of religion. Many thinkers reject it and attempt to articulate a different approach to divinity. We call them post-naturalistic. This article tries to show three main trends of post-naturalistic thought about God.
