In the article Seminary as the place and time of gaining the Sacred Heart of Jesus the author takes the chance to analyse some of the statements of pope Francis, which has been presented in Kraków – Łagiewniki on 30th July, 2016. Pope’s teaching shows the fundamental dimension of the formation in the seminary, which the main goal is to prepare a candidate for ordination through the particular intellectual, spiritual, and personality formation. The integral development of a consecrated person is above all the pure gift of God, who through the constant improvement of a sinful person communicates His merciful love. The whole process of responding to such love is the labour of approaching towards Love Eternal and “conquering inexhaustible wealth of the Heart of Jesus”. Consecrated person and a candidate for ordination through the holistic effort of formation comes closer to the mystery of Jesus’ presence in another person, whom he learns how to serve, despite his/her shortcomings. Noticing another person with his/her needs and serving him/her are the vital conditions of shaping his own heart as the imitation of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Saint Gertrude the Great (1256-1302) was a Saxon Christian saint. She died in the monastery of Helfta. As a young girl, she joined the Benedictine monastery at Helfta, under the direction of its abbess, Gertrude of Hackeborn. She is sometimes confused with her abbess, which is why she is often incorrectly depicted in art holding a crosier. She later experienced a conversion to God and began to strive for perfection in her religious life, turning her scholarly talents to scripture and theology. Many of the writings of St. Gertrude have unfortunately perished. Those now extant are: The Legatus Divinae Pietatis, the Exercises of St. Gertrude and the Liber Specialis Gratiae of St. Mechtilde. The Exercises, which are seven in number, embrace the work of the reception of baptismal grace to the preparation for death. Her glowing language deeply impregnated with the liturgy and scriptures exalts the soul imperceptibly to the heights of contemplation. St. Gertrude the Great hada very special devotion for the Sacred Heart. St. Gertrude taught that Jesus has given us the gift of His Sacred Heart so that, when suffering, we can seek our refuge and our consolation there. The characteristic trait of St. Gertrude's piety is her devotion to the Sacred Heart, the symbol of that immense charity which urged the Word to take flesh, to institute the Holy Eucharist, to take on Himself our sins, and, dying on the Cross, to offer Himself as a victim and a sacrifice to the Eternal Father.

Kult Serca Jezusowego jest oddawaniem czci całej Osobie Wcielonego Bożego Syna. Jezus Chrystus jest uosobioną Miłością, jest Kimś, kto jest tylko miłością. Więź miłości łącząca serce człowieka i Serce Jezusa prowadzi ku spełnieniu osobowemu. Wprowadza w niezwykłą przestrzeń miłości międzyosobowej, w odkupioną społeczność, która tworzy Mistyczne Ciało Chrystusa, ożywiane jednym sercem (por. Dz 4,32), ku chwale majestatu Boga (por. Ef 1,12.14), w Komunii Osób Niestworzonych. Serce Jezusa jest zwierciadłem ukazującym blask miłości Boga, godność i wielkość powołania osób stworzonych na wzór obrazu Bożego Syna (por. Rz 8,29), jak również doniosłość nowego świata (por. Ap 21,5), rozpoczynającego się już tu, na ziemi.

The cult of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is glorification of the Incarnated Person of the Son of God. Jesus Christ is a personification of Love, He is someone, who is exclusively love. The bond of love between Sacred Heart and a human’s heart leads to personal fulfilment. It introduces one into extraordinary space of interpersonal love, also in redeemed community, which creates the Mystical Body of Christ, which is animated by one heart (cf. Acts 4,32), to glorify God’s Majesty (cf. Eph 1,12.14), in Communion of Uncreated Persons. Sacred Heart of Jesus is the mirror which reflects the dazzle of God’s love, dignity and magnitude of vocation of people created as an image of God’s Son (cf. Rom 8,29), and also significance of a new world (cf. Rev 21,5), which has begun here, on earth.
