In a modern world there seems to dominate a bureaucratic conviction treating law and ideas hidden in it as soulless creations created not even by politicians but clerks-bureaucrats. The article is a polemic with such an approach. The authors try to remind classical sources of law regulations, which are closer to art dominated by ideas of good and beauty rather than effectiveness. Political and law ideas are much easier to be expressed in dreams rather than in a real world, which is a paradox we seem to have forgotten about. In our dreams there is a place for shameless idealism ignoring economy and the consequences of putting it into practice so dreams can express pure idea.

W świecie współczesnym wydaje się dominować biurokratyczny pogląd traktujący prawo oraz idee, jakie w nim się kryją, jako bezduszne konstrukcje tworzone nawet nie przez polityków, ale urzędników-biurokratów. Artykuł jest polemiką z takim podejściem. Autorzy starają się przypomnieć klasyczne źródła stojące za przepisami prawnymi, którym często bliżej do sztuki, gdzie dominują idee dobra i piękna w miejsce efektywności. Jest paradoksem, o którym chyba udało nam się zapomnieć, że ideom politycznym i prawnym łatwiej wyrażać się we śnie aniżeli w realnym świecie. We śnie może panować bezwstydny idealizm, nieliczący się ani z ekonomią, ani skutkami wprowadzenia go w życie, może zatem wyrażać ideę czystą.

The article presents several selected threads appearing in the work of Macrobius entitled Commentarii in Ciceronis Somnium Scipionis. This work, despite the fact that it does not have the character of an original work, but on the contrary – it has a compilatory character, has become one of the important sources that penetrated the ideas of ancient philosophy until the Middle Ages. Among the wealth of ideas contained in this work, issues related to the understanding of philosophy, the relation of philosophy and mythology, the topos of the “golden chain of Homer’s existence” and the classification of dreams were selected.

W artykule przedstawiono kilka wybranych wątków występujących w dziele Makrobiusza zatytułowanym Commentarii in Ciceronis Somnium Scipionis. Dziełko to, mimo że nie posiada charakteru oryginalnego utworu, lecz wręcz przeciwnie – ma charakter kompilatorski, stało się jednym z ważnych źródeł, którymi do średniowiecza przenikały idee filozofii starożytnej. Spośrod bogactwa idei zawartych w omawianym utworze wybrano zagadnienia związane z rozumieniem filozofii, relacją filozofii i mitologii, toposem „złotego łańcucha bytów Homera” oraz klasyfikacją snów.
