The article is an introduction to the analysis of the currently binding Polish documents that are a basis for sending Polish soldiers on missions outside the country. The basic legal acts which regulate this issue have been reviewed, including the most important documents, such as the Constitution of the Republic of Poland as of 2 April 1997, the Act on principles of use or stay of Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland outside the state borders as of 17 December 1998 and the Act on general defence obligation of the Republic of Poland as of 21 November 1967 together with amendments. The writer focused also on the national political documents, such as the Strategy of National Security of the Republic of Poland as of 2007, the Defence Strategy of the Republic of Poland as of 2009 and the Strategy of the participation of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland in international operations as of 2009.

Artykuł stanowi wstęp do analizy obecnie obowiązujących dokumentów krajowych stanowiących podstawę wysyłania polskich żołnierzy na misje poza granicami kraju. Przeglądowi poddano podstawowe akty prawne regulujące tę kwestię, przede wszystkim Konstytucję Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej z 2 kwietnia 1997 r., Ustawę o zasadach użycia lub pobytu Sił Zbrojnych Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej poza granicami państwa z 17 grudnia 1998 r. i Ustawę o powszechnym obowiązku obrony Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej z 21 listopada 1967 r. wraz z nowelizacjami. Wśród krajowych dokumentów politycznych autor skupił się na Strategii Bezpieczeństwa Narodowego Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej z 2007 r., Strategii Obronności Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej z 2009 r. i Strategii udziału Sił Zbrojnych Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej w operacjach mię-dzynarodowych z 2009 r.
