Funkcjonowanie jednostek kultury w głównej mierze jest determinowane formą pozyskiwania przez nie źródeł finansowania na prowadzenie bieżącej działalności lub realizację projektów celowych. Wydatki na finansowanie jednostek kultury stanowią niespełna 1% łącznych wydatków budżetu państwa. Brak dostatecznej informacji i wiedzy o sposobach oraz formach pozyskiwania środków przez jednostki kultury sprawia, iż coraz mniej inicjatyw jest podejmowanych w celu upowszechniania kultury w Polsce. Celem opracowania jest wskazanie źródeł finansowania jednostek kultury, a więc sposobów i metod poszukiwania środków na popularyzację kultury i dziedzictwa narodowego, w tym również tradycji i folkloru Polski. W pracy wskazano miejsce środków na finansowanie kultury w budżecie państwa, przedstawiono zmiany, jakie dokonały się w ostatnich latach w zakresie przepisów regulujących przekazywanie dotacji instytucjom kultury, jak również zaprezentowano źródła finansowania jednostek kultury na przykładzie województwa śląskiego.

The functioning of culture units is mainly determined by the form of obtaining source of funding to conduct current activity or implementation of targeted projects. The expenditure on the financing of culture units are less than 1% of the total state budget. Lack of appropriate information and knowledge about methods and forms of fundraising by culture units makes it less initiatives or events are organized to disseminate culture in Poland. The main aim of the study is to identify the sources of financing of culture units, so that ways and methods of searching for funds to popularize the culture and national heritage, including the Polish tradition and folklore. The study indicated the place of the financing of culture in the state budget, presented the changes that have occurred in recent years in terms of regulations about the transfer of subsidies to cultural institutions, as well as pointed out the sources of financing of culture units on the example of Silesian region.
