From the historical works of Eusebius of Caesarea we learn that St. Peter went to Rome in 42 and preached the Gospel there for 25 years. However, this information is not confirmed in the books of the New Testament. For this reason, this article attempts to answer the question of where St. Peter could have stayed and acted from the moment he left Jerusalem (Acts 12:17) until his arrival in Rome. The analysis of Gal 2:11–14 leads to the conclusion that after the Council of Jerusalem he certainly stayed in Antioch for some time. It is possible that during his long journey he reached the northern regions of Asia Minor, as a reminiscence of this can be found in 1 Peter 1:1. Then, on his way to Rome, he probably paid a visit to Christians in Corinth, as evidenced by 1 Cor 1:12; 9:5. These texts therefore allow us to suppose that after leaving Jerusalem, St. Peter became an itinerant apostle, carried out extensive missionary activities and, thanks to his personal contacts with Christian communities, gained great authority among them.
The order analyses west Slavic folk tales about Jesus Christ and St. Peterʹ s wandering on the Earth, which does not correspond with the Holy Bible. The paper attempts to prove, that there may be found some functional similarities between couples Jesus Christ – St. Peter and Mitra – Varuna as representants of the Indo-European mythological tradition. They had represented the cosmologi-cal connection of antagonistic elements – day and night, life and death, truth and lie etc. Jesus Christ and St. Peter as figures – functions in the folk tales should symbolize difficult relationships between the truth and lie.
The article presents the achievements of Cardinal Stanisław Nagy in the field of ecclesiology, including the ecumenical context. The main problem is the primacy of the Bishop of Rome as executing the supreme office in the Catholic Church. The article presents the apologetic argumentation concerning the Church’s credibility, called via primatus. It describes the ministry of primacy as the function given to St. Peter the Apostle and his successors, conferred upon him by Jesus Christ, with the purpose of ensuring the unity and permanence of the Church. The article also addresses the problem of the ecumenical quest, where the pope is the most difficult obstacle in the process of unifying Christianity. The last part of the article presents the praxeological aspect of the ministry of primacy in John Paul II’s pontificate.

Artykuł ukazuje w szerokim kontekście poglądów eklezjologicznych i ekumenicznych problem prymatu Biskupa Rzymu w dorobku Kardynała S. Nagyego. Poglądy Profesora początkowo podkreślały instytucjonalne i historyczne aspekty prymatu, jednak wraz z rozwojem posoborowej eklezjologii akcentowały teologiczną stronę, ukazując tę misję w historiozbawczej wizji Kościoła.
The article St. Peter’s Chair in the Teaching of Optatus of Mileve as the Final Criterion of Authenticity of the Church is particularly about certain period in the catholic Church history in IV century, which was experienced in the Latin Africa by schism of the Donatists. In order to prevent the division Saint Optatus broadcasted the extremely mature conception of the Saint Peter's chair, that was based on Saint Cyprian's idea. Optatus describes this power/chair as a first gift for the Church - meaning Saint Peter, who is a source of the rest of gifts such as baptism and penance. This chair was transmitted to the Saint Peter's successors as a source and tool for the Church union. Everyone who wanted to be in the harmony with me Church should maintain complete union with bishop of Rome.

The Council of Trent confirmed the Church’s teaching on the law of penance, focusing on confession of sins and sacramental absolution. It was a response to the erroneous teaching of Protestantism, which rejected most of the sacraments by recognising only the sacraments of baptism and the Eucharist. The sacrament of penance was established by Christ on the day of the resurrection. The apostles, followed by priests, received the power to forgive sins. The doctrine of the Holy Sacraments, and especially of penance and the Eucharist, was preached by the members of the Congregation of the Mission founded by Vincent de Paul during missions in many European countries. The main task of the missionaries was to encourage the faithful to confess their sins and receive the sacrament of penance. This sacrament was perceived as a spiritual cure for the sinners and through repentance they could return to the merciful God. The missionaries came to Siemiatycze in 1717. They took over the parish and the church, which they expanded and re-equipped, inter alia by adding six oak regency confessionals (ca. 1744). The finials of the confessionals featured paintings of penitents absolved by God: Mary Magdalene, King David, the prodigal son and St. Peter. The purpose of the scenes in the paintings was to make it clear to the faithful that the sacrament of penance is a sign that God never leaves people, but always opens the way for their return. Through the paintings in the finials, the sinners were to be assured that repentance and confession of sins to the priest and the penance given by him lead to the forgiveness of sins by God by virtue of the “power of the keys” – the priestly absolution. The images in the confessionals also indicated that for the sinner, the confession is the way back to and the source of God’s mercy. This was emphasised by two consecutive images in the confessionals: the Good Shepherd finding the stray sheep and the scene showing St. Peter and Christ at the moment of handing over the keys. For the faithful, the figure of St. Peter indicated that he would strengthen and guard the faith against all human weakness.

Sakrament pokuty ustanowił Chrystus w dniu zmartwychwstania. Apostołowie otrzymali władzę odpuszczenia grzechów, a po nich kapłani. Naukę o Sakramentach Świętych, a szczególnie o pokucie i Eucharystii głosili członkowie Zgromadzeni Misji Wincentego a Paulo na misjach w wielu krajach Europy. Do Siemiatycz misjonarze przybyli w roku 1717. Objęli parafię i kościół, który rozbudowali i na nowo wyposażyli, m.in. wstawiając sześć dębowych, regencyjnych konfesjonałów (ok. 1744). W zwieńczeniach konfesjonałów zostały umieszczone malarskie przedstawienia pokutników, którym Bóg przebaczył winy: Marii Magdalenie, królowi Dawidowi, synowi marnotrawnemu i św. Piotrowi. Piotra i Chrystusa w momencie przekazania kluczy.
