Celem artykułu jest prezentacja czynników warunkujących decyzje finansowe firm rodzinnych w zakresie wyboru źródeł finansowania procesu sukcesji. Artykuł podzielony jest na trzy części. W pierwszej omówiono istotę przedsiębiorstw rodzinnych. Następnie przedstawiony został proces sukcesji w firmach rodzinnych. Trzecią część artykułu poświęcono analizie czynników determinujących wybór źródła finansowania procesu przeniesienia władzy i własności na kolejne pokolenie. W artykule jako metodę badawczą wykorzystano analizę literatury przedmiotu oraz wybranych badań empirycznych. Proces sukcesji w przedsiębiorstwie rodzinnym jest działaniem newralgicznym. Od jego powodzenia zależy przyszłość rodzinnego biznesu. Podjęta decyzja dotycząca struktury finansowej w planowaniu sukcesji może kreować relacje pomiędzy członkami rodziny oraz wpływać na kształt i sposób funkcjonowania przedsiębiorstwa.

The aim of this article is to present the factors which determine financial decisions of family businesses in terms of choosing sources of financing succession process. The article is divided into three parts. In the first section, the author presented the essence of family business. The next step was to introduce the process of succession in family companies. The third part of the article was devoted to analyzing the factors which determine the source of funding for the transfer of power and ownership to the next generation. In the article the author used the analysis of literature of the subject and selected empirical research. The process of succession in the family enterprise is a sensitive one. Its success depends on the future of family business. The decision on the financial structure in succession planning can create the relations between family members and may have influence on the shape and the way of functioning the company determining its future value.
