The Diocese of Ełk was established in 1992 as a major change in the structure of the Church in Poland. It connects the land belonging in the past to various forms of the Polish state and the German state, as well as the Russian state. As a result of these conditions, the parishes of the Roman Catholic Church in this area have arisen in different circumstances and have distinct traditions. Parishes are currently experiencing similar problems. Within the Diocese of Ełk there was an increase in the number of parishes and the process of unifying the way they functioned.

In 2012 the Diocese of Ełk prided itself on nine sanctuaries. During the 20 years of the diocese of the sanctuary there have been several changes. Two new sanctuaries were established: Leipzig and Elk. All paintings in the Marian sanctuaries were crowned during this time (4 images out of 6). In the 2012 schematism the names of the sanctuaries have been clarified and the division into Marian shrines and others (“other”) have been introduced.

Leszek Aleksander Moczulski's poetical personalism is an attempt at artificially describing a certain kind of poetry, which is being formed under the influences of Christianity and the tradition of Polish Romanticism. In this case, poetical personalism means different ways of perceiving the world, but on the personal, axiological and communal levels. The polyphony in Moczulski's art showcases its mastery, and is a testament to his respect towards his ancestors' spiritual heritage. Poetry is the practice of Goodness, Love, Faith, Hope, Trust, Justice, Sacrifice etc. Poetical personalism creates a basis for naming Moczulski as the heir of the line of the polish Christian poetry

The war and occupation history of Suwałki and Suwałki region is associated almost exclusively with the German aggression and the later annexation of this territory to the Third Reich. Initially, however, the area was under the Soviet occupation, according to the provisions of the Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact of 23 August 1939. The article describes military operations of the Soviets and attitudes of the local population, diverse both in terms of ethnicity and religion. At the beginning of the war there were no conflicts in the analysed region, characteristic of the Polish Eastern Frontiers, which allows us to conduct research with no later influences resulting from the long Soviet occupation.

Porównanie tych dwóch dyskursów – codziennego i odświętnego (skierowanego celowo na zewnątrz) pozwala pełniej rozpoznać miejsce, jakie zajmują kamienie w obrazie Suwalszczyzny.

The main objective of this article is to present the way in which people from the Suwalki region perceive their coexistence with rocks, which are ubiquitous in the region and constitute a kind of its trademark. The first question is: how do local people perceive rocks, and how do they assess their presence? The second important question is how the rocks ft into the image of the region, created and distributed as a tourism product? Does their history contribute to the mysteriousness of the region which permeates touristic narratives?
