The first part of the paper offers a historical overview of trans-mediation processes in the field of children’s literature. The transfer of a work or its parts from the print medium to another medium has since the beginning been rather controversial. Some were worried about maintaining the educational as well as artistic-aesthetical function of children’s literature. The fear of losing these functions was caused by the advent of new media within (children’s) literature. During the last few decades, however, remediated forms of literary works have been accepted, thanks to the new possibilities of perception that the remediated versions enable. The paper focuses on analysing one example of remediation – the Slovak version of the Norwegian game adaptation of the Moomin book series. The paper critically examines the Slovak translation, as well as to what degree the trans-mediation of the work’s content into the new medium can be regarded as successful.
